Saw a new Cobalt Sport...
I was driving around out here on 192 and saw a burgundy Cobalt up ahead of me. So I sped up and noticed it had chrome rims and a open front grill like the SS's have. So I slowed a bit and looked at the back end and sure enough it said Cobalt Sport... The new badge looks kinda weird cause I'm not used to seeing it. Guess the 08's have hit the lots. I thought they were still awaiting arrival. lol
And I guess I'll add in my opinion. Since the 2008 models are out on the lots now I guess the Cobalt Turbo is a no show for the 2008 model year just as most suspected. Maybe 09. We'll have to wait and see about that.

it can still come out, i thought the turbo balt was going to be released halfway through the 08 year if it was for 08... they can still change things throughout the year. Sunburst orange got cancelled a couple months into the 07 year. and you can get color inserts in the 08 sport balts starting in november/december like in the SS/SC's but not yet. So it could still happen. Nice sighting though
I'm leaning more towards them waiting to put a Turbo Balt out if they ever do it. I don't want them to rush to get it out and have a car that doesn't have much potential. I much rather see it as an 09 model with a lot more track testing under it's belt and a lot more fine tuning done to it and perhaps squeezing more hp out of the lnf to compete with the MS3 and SRT-4. However I'm not really expecting it to come out cause from the looks of things everybody is going hatchback.(Thanks to Honda) And I don't like hatches.....
BACK TO THE COBALT SPORT...
The back says Cobalt in the normal area all of ours says Cobalt. Then right next to it there is a badge(much like the supercharged badge only a taller piece) that says Sport on it. It makes the back end look a little weird and unbalanced as far as badging is concerned.
And why did they get rid of Sunburst Orange?? That's a nice color.

Yea, exactly. But it doesn't make much sense for GM to mess around with something that is one of their best selling cars. 2nd only to the Impala I believe. Or Malibu. One of the two.
But it is GM. How many times have the discontinued the Camaros and then re-introduced them? they're going on like #4 now.
GM - Enough to make your head spin.
Well, some people have some convincing threads about. As much as I'd like to see one, I don't see it happening. Chevy already fell victim to this hach craze by bringing out the HHR SS. I don't see Chevy spending more money on another car for it to be less than 3% of total sales for that particular make. It's not a wise business decision.

Was in the Detroit News during the talks...
Part of the UAW agreement:
The ohio plant will remain the main compact factory for GM, producing the Cobalt thru '08, and its predosesser thru '11 or '12 I belive.
I hate how the companies do this... they really need a car like honda has the civic, helps brand recognition when youve got same model names just redisigned.
Think Mustang, instanly you think of ford.
Camero, Chevy.
hell, Dodge took the Plymoth Neon's name and gave it it's own badge cause it was such a solid seller for them befor the merger/buyout w/e that was...
nowadays seems like they just introduce the phase out cars in like 5 year cycles no matter what kind of market share they pull in their class

heres what i think:
there WILL be a turbo sport compact coming from chevy in the next couple years. most likely it wont be a cobalt. i also think it has a pretty good chance of being rear wheel drive, especially since i think thats the direction pontiac is going

It isn't like the Cobalt's rep is so weak they need to abandon the name.
