No prob. I put one on mine. Let me know if you have any questions. I will tell you now, there is not much room up front at all.
InfinityzeN 10-19-2007, 11:10 AM Bwoody sells the mounting brackets.
MrSlickSter06SS 10-19-2007, 03:39 PM Bwoody sells the mounting brackets.
Where can we buy the cobra h/e them selves, and arnt they like 100 bucks new or something like that??
Darkmanx 10-20-2007, 03:02 AM Where can we buy the cobra h/e them selves, and arnt they like 100 bucks new or something like that??
I highly doubt they are 100 new probally around 200+
InfinityzeN 10-20-2007, 04:47 AM Actually new they are almost $300. Buy them used in the buy/sell section of this site, mustang forums, and ebay.
1fstss 10-21-2007, 05:52 PM you have to trim the Bwoody brackets to fit the cobalt. but its not hard. its a very easy and straight forward install. i think i paid 50 bucks for my Cobra HE :)
Mattman6 10-21-2007, 06:12 PM if i was you i would leave the antifreeze in there, seeing as winter is coming up. Good luck with the install
an0malous 10-21-2007, 06:18 PM you can pick them up used on mustang forums, or even here, for 50-150.
Boober 10-21-2007, 06:40 PM There are several aftermarket companies who sell an upgraded heat exchanger for the Cobra crowd. I know that AFCO sells a direct replacement unit for around $200 Might be a little overkill for our 4 bangers, but I'll bet there are some IAT improvements even over the stock Cobra HE.
lewisb13 10-21-2007, 06:46 PM I just bought mine for 50 bucks shipped. 30K miles on it off an 04 cobra...
Hurt-ya 10-22-2007, 04:28 AM i bought the H/E for 50 bux and the brackets were like 60
the brackets helped alot ... so that you dont ghetto rip it in hehe
but we had to cut into the bump a bit just tiny slits. but you can not tell the difference unless ur looking under the car
Im running both H/E
the flow goes this way
the Fluid goes through the Cobra pump then shoots to the Stock HE and then into the s/c
Helps alot
im running 10-20 degrees cooler in the intake temps
and like 2-3 degrees cooler on the engine coolant
AND i hit my max boost quicker. instead of 6500 i hit it about 5900
The next upgrade will be the dualpass heatexchanger that the dealership sells for like 263
NOW THAT is a TREMONDUS difference in proformance... that is a must have the "dual pass heatexchanger"... get that before you go pass the gmstg2. you'll be happier than ever
Then p/p your blower.. you'll blow turbos out of the water cus you'll run just as cold
shaunmcdee 10-22-2007, 04:46 AM To be perfectly honest with you, ive installed the cobra HE just by itself, and left the stock one unhooked. My idle is sat at 120s at night and 140s in the hot sun.
the highest ive ever seen with iat2 temps with just the cobra running by itself was 160 and this is after quite a few WOT runs.
All this was before i installed the dual pass endplate and dual pass HE
RedEcotecSS 10-22-2007, 08:28 AM Damn, I need to get me one of those!
