That and I need to invest into a good camera. Borrowing my moms camera is not cutting it.

you can have the most expensive camera in the world and it would still take blurry pics w/out a tripod.

troof... I guarantee if you had shot with a tripod they would have turned out ten times better. Expensive cameras are fun but to shoot with any camera in low light situations you need a tripod.
