A Forced To Buy Car Part

What is a part for your car you were forced to buy whether you liked it or not. Share your experiences.

I shall share mine first

Within 30 days I had to buy new: Tires, Rims and Rotors costing me a grand total of $1289 which isnt bad for what i got out of it.

Tires: NanKang NS-II
Rims: Konig Unkowns 18 inchers for my 2.2
Rotors: Stoptech slotted rotors, process of ordering

Now here is my story:

About a couple weeks ago I was driving to work, was a bad day as it was for me. While about 300 yards or so from my work off the highway, out of nowhere my tire went poof!!! And was dragging my rim with it destroying it, while i was trying to balance out my other 3 tires were dragging really hard ripping the tred off. My back left or right tire was the one blown out.. And this happened while i was going up a high hill. Forcing me to put the car in reverse going downhill in my lane with cars coming up getting pissed (didnt give a rats ass what they thought at that moment) to park the car.

I then called my dad whom i work with but different shifts, and when I called him, asked him to take it, because I knew i had to get this fixed quick because i have a lot of highway driving to do to get to work and dont want to do it all on a spare. After which he took my shift, fiancee came with her cobalt to help me out and to see what all went wrong.. We jacked my car up with the stock jacker lol and changed the flat with that cheesy ass duncan donut, and she falled me around to every damn tire and rim shop around.

I went to about 10 or so stores of which had no tires or rims period that would fit my car.. they would have to order them which they said would take up to a week.. And with my job you have to be there unless its 911 type importance unless you have coverage.

I even went to rent and roll just to take a look pretty much knowing what to expect but **** they are a rip off.. 2K for some crap ass looking rims.

I then had that magic lightbulb hit my head, hey my custom shop place called speed of song.. Went there in a rush, then to talk to the owner whom hooks me up. I told him everything and how much i had on me.. He had the rims and tires already ballanced and put together on sitting there for like 1300 something, which i didnt have enough.. And he knew so he cut me a deal for 1100 total which i paid him(only tires and rims sitting there that would fit at the moment.) The shop was just about closed by then so me and the owner did it outside in the dark in front of the mall which is where its located. put them on.. then the next day before work he wanted them checked which i did, and got some of them safely lugs so that they dont get stolen, which he hooked me up with. Put on, and car felt great... looks high though, but i cant afford to lower it yet..

Then When I decided to do my first 4 wheel removal and paint drums and caliper, i noticed that the rotors were beat up and chipped and severely rusted all over. I was like ****, then got ahold of adam from thmotorsports and he helped me out, and i am waiting for him to get back to me with the order form and all.. I did manage to paint the caliper and drums with no problems at all.. watched that expert village **** and it had videos which helped.. and when I did it, it felt like common sense, and when i hooked everything back up and it felt smoother actually because of all the cleaning I did.. The rotor will be fine for awhile but i am being easy on breaking.. the brakes look perfect, but the rotor is crap.

I also must say for 60 dollar nankang taiwan tires they hold freaking awesome, i get better turns and handling. And dont get accidental chirps and burnout problems on my roads here in PA with these tires... they are awesome in rain to.. I used to have continentals, big difference from them to these..

Sorry for the super long post.. Cant wait to hear everyone elses stories.
