How to find an exhaust leak?

Installed an ss/sc downpipe on my 2.2 this weekend Sounds great, but I'm hearing a whistle under exceleration at low RPM's. I'm sure its just an exhaust leak, the bolts on both the manifold and the catback were impossible to get off from rust. How can I find where the leak is coming from? I know I might need new gaskets, but I don't know the right way to find where the leak is.

turn the car on (when cold of course) and get under the car. have a friend put his hand over the tailpipe. you'll be able to hear where the air comes out from.

when the car is cold, put soapy water on the flanges and look for bubbles or spitting water.

Thanks guys. I really hope its just a bad gasket and not like a cracked pipe. The downpipe looked fine to me when I installed it.

Now that I think about it. Once I find the leak, how do I seal it? If its a bad gasket then I know I just replace it, but what if something is cracked, etc?

get a hose and put it to your ear. then with car running hot or cold (what ever makes it leak more) listen at potential leaking spots using the hose like a stephoscope.

good luck
