PSI Winter Tires
Max pressure is probably about 40psi. I never go by that. Generally I go by the side pillar on the door. But that is for my stock 205/50/r17. I thinking about just going with 35psi like the stockers because the pressure drops about 1psi for every 10* drop in temp.
It takes a certain amount of preassure to hold a car up off the wheels. 35 PSI in each tire means for every square inch of tire on the road, 35 lbs of the car is supported. Changing tire size doesn't change how much weight the tires need to hold up. Based on that theory I would say stick with the 35 PSI and watch the tires. If they start wearing in the middle more then on the sides lower the pressure and check again later (my theory sounds great on paper, but it doesn't normally work out quite like that, it's just a good starting place). Being winter tires you probably arn't to worried about maximum cornering performance, so I'd just go with what get's the most tread life.
Actually the pressure inside the tire is the air pressure and has nothing to do with the weight of the car. Go with the pressure that the tires are rated at. The manufacture rates their tires for a reason, they know what they are talking about.....most of the time.....
