Fuel Injector Recall Question
Fuel Injector Recall Question
Ive been searchin but can't find a definitive answer, and i know its been a dead topic for a while but I gotta know. I never got a letter about a recall but a friend of mine got his cobalt bought a month before mine and he went in for somethin else and they took care of the recall as well. Is it just the fuel injectors? And i very much doubt that i am still under warrenty as i have the done the air box mod and have an exhaust, my car is loud as a motha. Any suggestions as what i could do? Very willing to change out fuel injectors myself but I've never done it before so I would need to know as much as possible before i even touch my bolt in it's "naughty place" lol Thanks
theyw ont void your warranty for the airbox mod or the exhaust, as far as i know, how can an exhaust \break something, they can only void it is the mod caused the problem, if its a recall then no way in hell u made every balt **** up, lol, but yeah take it in f u want, see what they tell, and u still have ur warranty, i have a CAI, lsj header, lsj dp, lsj catback, turbo tech racing tranny mounts, and they still cover me under warranty, i just got my ICM replaced today, trust me, they cant void unless the mod itself was the cause of the problem, and if they try to, say **** you, and go to another GM dealer, and write GM a letter or email about it, dealers get fucked over when you complaign on them, it affect eceryones bonus
if you have the 2.2, there is a recall for the fuel injectors possibly cracking. i do this recall all the time. they shouldn't void your warrenty for a known problem. thats why it's a recall. it doesn't matter if you have any warrenty left, it's still done at no charge.
This is the recall:
Condition:
General Motors has decided to conduct a Voluntary Emission Recall involving certain
2006 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac Pursuit model vehicles, equipped with a 2.2L 4cylinder (RPO L61 - VIN F) engine. Very small cracks may develop inside the fuel injectors. A crack could allow fuel to seep through into the injector connector pocket, resulting in a fuel odor. If the wiring connector becomes separated from the injector, resulting in an open injector circuit, symptoms could include engine misfire, illumination of the check engine light, and a fuel odor.
Correction:
Dealers are to replace all four engine fuel injectors.
Vehicles Involved:
Involved are certain 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac Pursuit model vehicles equipped with a 2.2L 4 cylinder (RPO L61 - VIN F) engine and built within these VIN breakpoints:
2006 Chevrolet Cobalt: 67633125 through 67802839
2006 Pontiac Pursuit: 67687448 through 67802833
These numbers are the last 8 of you VIN. If you car falls between these numbers, get some new injectors for free!!
