Question I think i need a new clutch

My 07 ss/sc when i am shifting to 2nd gear really doesnt move unless i let off the gas... i think i need a new clutch... Any idea where i can get one or if i should just try to get another stock one... Plus how much should it run me. I hope i dont have to change it but i dont know what else it could be. It doesnt do it all the time... Only sometimes. Any input will help

Start driving a little more harshly all the time, don't slide the clutch as much during regular driving. See if that makes it better. I've been able to milk the stock clutch for almost 50K miles now, with 300+ HP.

It could be clutch slippage.... but if you never let off the gas when shifting I wouldn't be surprised if your clutch is shot. If it is I say upgrade the clutch. Why not?

Take the money you were going to spend on a clutch, and spend it on a driving school.

when your done that, then replace your clutch.

I'm finding myself agreeing with you more and more. It's starting to scare me. Maybe I'm beginning to realize that the world is full of people that need bluntness to get things.

He's asking for help, last thing you need to do is give him a hard time.

ftmfw! dude...ummm, where'd u learn to drive? Okay...when U bought a manual, did u know how to drive one prior? When shifting, u let OFF the gas, press the clutch, move the shifter, and Ta Da! U have shifted. Now...if u have the gas in, while shifting, thats a no no . U wear n tear ur clutch that way man. Only other thing i can think of is syncro wear. Have u been power shifting, or not using the clutch to shift? That cud be another problem. U said it's only in 2nd though huh? My guess would either be ur clutch is slipping, or u have mild syncro wear. Before u decide to buy a clutch, go to the dealer, ask them. I have had so many transmission problems with my car, however, I don't HOLD THE GAS IN while shifting. I've had syncro's replaced, and blew my stock clutch within the first month n it was a factory problem. Now I have a Spec stage 2+ Carbon Kevlar clutch. Its b-e-a-utiful. It was worth the money. However, if u do plan on getting a performance clutch, get urself a flywheel as well. Might as well if u plan on going with performance. U'd hafta get ur flywheel resurfaced anyways. Also, a clutch isn't just a cheap part. Mine cost 450.00 shipped, and another 480.00 installed. So figure any way u look at it, ur spending close to 1000. Man...why do people get manual cars, beat the **** outta them, then say, "Well...ummm I hold the gas in, n it won't work when I shift" Gawd. I'm sry to come off so rash here n harsh but, man. lol. I wouldn't be surprised if ur clutch had massive wear on it. Holding the gas in. Jeez.

As mentioned above, don't give it gas when you shift.

What are your mods? Mileage?

If you're stock and under 75k miles......you need to take another look at your driving technique, cause your clutch definitely shouldn't be done yet.

Obviously with mods, clutch wear increases, but still on an 07.......probably shouldn't be having problems yet, even modded.

if it is giving you issue pushing it into gear, i would look at either worn syncros or, more likely, air in the clutch line first

i burnt my first clutch out at 25000 miles...i could put it in 1st gear and just drop the clutch and the car wouldnt move. give it some gas, it would rev up, then catch and take off. i could be doing 70 down the interstate in 5th, and give it gas, and it would rev up, then catch and go. you've probably wore down the clutch, either that, or your brake fluid is low. or maybe your throw out bearing is bad.

anyway, take it to the dealer and have them tell you.
