GMPP Dual Bypass

Hi Guys

I was looking at buying the Dual Bypass plate for the Cobalt SS/SC at GMPP. Does anyone have the part #? Also what is the Option B for? Does this mod make a big difference in cooling?

doing a search might pop up tons of threads, but its contraversial. It helps with heat soak and supposedley helps drop temps off quicker and at an average of 5-10 degrees lower in your IAT2's. Recommended if your going smaller pulley than 3.0 inch or stage 2.

Part # is Intercooler End Plate 88958721

Best place to get it from is Crate Engine Depot, you can also buy all of the additional parts for the Option B surge kit! I would definatly recommend the option B.

This is one of the best mods you can do. Makes a huge difference. Just get it, you won't be disappointed.

your gonna need the endplate and the tank, you dont need new seals since the endplate comes with them, also some piping, if you come to our meets you can check out the setup.
im the only one in the gta it looks like with it
my cobalt addiction heat exchanger is finally shipped and in transit.
i also have a water kit, tank is mounted in the trunk.

check OCC, i have almost every GMPP part number posted and if you are an OCC member, you automatically get the discount
i used to get the the OCC discount plus and extra 10% off but my buddy does not work there anymore, but something is better than nothing.

ebay has cobra heat exchangers for about 100 bucks or so, just gotta find one in decent shape, if u go that route.

How much difference in Temp. did you get from the Dual Bypass? I have the meth kit from Mase already. When I use the meth the temp when't from 162-129 I believe...How much temp drop from the Cobra HE alone??? I am considering just doing the Cobra but not sure. What advantage does the Option B give you besides the reservior for the extra coolant. How hard is the install? How much for the parts + install?

the dual pass lets iat2s drop soo much faster.
with an additional heat exchanger its suppose to drop about 10 to 15 degrees.
the install is kind of a bitch, talk to mase about that, he did mine for me.
ill look into the prices for u, i have them somewhere.
in the hot/ humid summer days, my iat2s at the track where ridiculously hight after about 16 runs
but with the dual pass and my water kit, on similar days with a similar amount of runs the temps dropped about 30-40 degrees depending.
normal driving iat2 temps are also cooler.
i might consider meth for next year instead of runnin distilled water.

Crate Engine Depot is awesome and the best place to order it from. The quality is way better than my homemade one I had and sold like an idiot. Definitely worth the investment!

So if I get just the Cobra HE should it cool the charge about 20 degrees or so? Sounds like the dual pass is a pain in the a.. to install? I think I mite just go the Cobra HE for now.....I am not going too the track with the car. Just putting in a new tranny with LSD. I am going too race now with my Dads 383 stroker LT1 runs low 11's now. Going for high 10's this yr N/A.....Should be fun.

The dual pass mod is easy. Take off the blower, pull off the manifold, take off the endplate, swap the cores around, and replace with the new dual pass one. Then run your hoses, and reinstall the blower. It should only takes a couple of hours tops. If you've taking the car apart as many times as I have you should be able to do it even faster.
