LNF Lightened Crankshaft Pulley

We're rolling out the red carpet for many new products for the LNF engine; seeing as this engine is already available in the Solstice/Sky and soon to be available in the Cobalt SS/TC!

These babies are heading into production end of Jan. `08 and should be ready to roll March 31st!

The LSJ crankshaft pulley is $350 suggested price. The lowest we've seen dealers sell the LSJ version is for around $260. Dealers are free to set pricing as they see fit.... It's best to shop around for the best deal.

I have no idea what this does, but I am glad that somebody is making aftermarket parts for it. So... What exactly does this do? Is it easy to install? Does it void my warranty?

Again thank-you for helping out people and I hope to hear back from you guys!

I'm glad you asked. The stock pulley itself weighs approximately 5.9lbs. Our pulley takes the stock one out on a diet at around 2.45lbs. This weight drop allows the engine to spin up, under load quicker and reduce power robbing inertia associated with the stock pulley. We've shaved the power steering pulley portion of our pulley by a small amount to spin the pwr steering pump slower. This again restores horse power on the dyno. The pulley is case hardened and stronger than the cast iron unit with regards to integrity at high speeds and generally is more appealing to look at. Your warranty being voided by our product is quite subjective. By installing any aftermarket part you open yourself up to the pretty much any dealers subjective view of the part installed. Some dealerships will say, "No, any aftermarket part will void your warranty" Some will say, "No problem, as long as the part was installed by a GM Tech"... others will say, "As long as the part in question hasn't caused the failure". It's entirely subjective and we recommend that you check with your dealership and get your response in writing prior to installation of any aftermarket product, as to whether your warranty will be void.

Installation again is quite simple. We jack the vehicle up, take the tire off, take the belt off, remove the stock pulley, install the JBP pulley. Couldn't be easier.

SS/TC has electric assist power steering unlike the LNF Kappas.

from what ive learned with drag racing fourwheelers and having a lightened fly wheel on my predator that 1 lb taken of a fly wheel is 11 lbs taken off the rotating mass so it really adds up in the end!

But the HHR and Cobalt LNF do not have hydraulic power steering. So that extra pulley is a waste and just adds weight when the whole point is to not have any.

There's probably a diff. part number for the Cobalt/HHR pulley.

So does this part affect the power steering?

And BTW, which type of power steering does the new Cobalt and the current Cobalt have? Hydraulic, or electric?

All Cobalts are electric.

The pulley illustrated earlier was designed for the LNF used in the Kappas (Solstice/Sky).

Sooo... This lightweight crankshaft pulley does nothing to the electric power steering?
