Weird Smell, and high coolant temps.

Ok, so Friday i went to town and installed my GMPP performance cat back and then the 2.4 intake manifold swap from CED. The car sounds great and there are no CEL's or anything but as i was driving the car saturday there was a weird smell coming from the exhaust and the coolant seemed to be at around 198-207. Now i dont check my coolant temps often but isn't that a little high? i know cars running at higher temps are more fuel efficient but my old passat 2.0T would never run above 198. The smell im guessing is from the exhaust because it never had been run because the engine bay smelled fine. Anyone had this happen with either mod? Couldnt find any other threads with this info so i thought id ask around.

coolant temps are fine... these cars run hot... if it gets above 220 or so... you can start to be concerned

your coolant temp is normal. Anything over 225 might be a little concern. Your in the normal operating range.
