What size tire for new rims

I'm want to buy American Racing Rogue rims 18x8.5 [black/polished lip] +35 offset. I'm having a real debate on what size tire to run. My car is lowered on sportlines.
225/40/18 or 235/40/18?

1. 235/40/18 is my first choice since this size is best recommended for an 8.5 wide rim, but will also fit other sizes. I am concerned about rubbing issues due to the width of the tire and my drop. Or will the offset help this out?

2. the 225/40/18 will fit, but may have a little stretched appearance since it is best recommended for a 8 inch wide rim, but will also fit other sizes. I don't mind a little stretching, but don't want a sidewall too rounded.

Overall...I'm trying to avoid any major rubbing issues or a tire that is too stretched.

Any thoughts...I'd hate to order the wrong size and be screwed.

I sold my stock polished wheels and tires...so I need to figure this out soon.

BTW...Dead Zen is running these rims but on 215's if you need a visual.

That wheel doesn't have as much offset as most FWD wheels (probably due to the extra width). Yes, a 235/40/18 tire would fit the wheel better, but it also might rub easier than that same size on other FWD wheels with say a +45 offset. I'd say go with the 225/40/18.......it's too bad the wheels arn't 1" narrower. I was looking at those in the Summer for my car before I bought my MKW's, they're nice.

I'm worried the 225/40 will look too stretched on the 8.5 wide rim.....or should it be ok appearance wise.

It'll look a little bit stretched, but it won't be ridiculous like a drifter car or anything.
