What kind of performance are you looking for? Strictly summer only? Performance all season?

FALKENS ROCK!

Get the ZE 912s though...if you are looking for all season they are by far the stickiest all season tire I have ran into

Cheap too:

I have the 912's and they are way better than the p-zero tires that came with the car.
I used to be such a perelli fan, but they are overrated/overpriced and suck on anything but really hot dry ashfalt.
The only tires that I have had that are better are the Toyo Proxies

Summer only though.

Most people aren't big on buying lower brand names because they get scared of low prices thinking they = ****

Honestly

Falkens for all season and Falkens for AutoX

And also campo, **** tire rack and their little rating system

I get all crazy analyzing them Tire Rack #'s (not just the written review but the "test result charts")..... I realized in some cases the difference is in 10th's of a second
for example, I'm looking at a test result chart for "dry lap times" the fast tire is 29.90 vs. the slow tire is 30.18 seconds, a .28 second (SECOND) difference.... imperceivable! a better driver can make that up over the average driver!
The bigger differences in #'s are important though

I bought a set of all season performance tires(Yokohamas) to replace my stockers back in the fall. Some observations. The Yoks will get me back and forth to work and up my drive way in snow, something the Pirellis could not do. They also grip better during rainy weather/wet road conditions. The Yoks have a UTQG rating of 320, so in theory they should last considerably longer that the 15K I got out of my Pirellis. Now for the bad. These tires obviously have no where near the grip during hard acceleration that a tire with an AA UTQG traction rating like the Pirelli's have. When the temperature is warm (above 55) they do OK traction wise but don't have the grip/grab the Pirellis had during hard acceleration. They seem to do OK in high speed turns and hard braking. Once it gets cold outside (below 40) forget about it. 1st/2nd gear power shift and these tires just break loose and start spinning. Even a second gear pull will break the tires loose once the tach gets a little above 6K. Come spring I will be buying summer tires and use the Yoks during winter.

these tires are rated number 1 from car and driver, and tire rack loves them as well:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....el=Exclaim+UHP

They are rated number 1 out of 44 tires, and some of the tires are way more expensive:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...y.jsp?type=UHP

Hands down the best tire for the money.

it a depends on what you want out of a tire....
here is the only Car and Driver High Performance tire test I could find
... and the UHP is not on that list? which test are you looking at? I'd like to see it
http://www.caranddriver.com/features...the-tread.html

Tire Rack allows you to sort based on what you want in a tire... click on "sort by" in some of the other categories like overall DRY PERFORMANCE and it's 17th
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...l&sortValue=15
and CORNERING STABILITY and STEERING RESPONSE it's 23rd
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...ll&sortValue=5
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...ll&sortValue=7

those are things that are more important to me personally....

you also must remember those particular Tire Rack #'s you chose, are survey results, not actual test #'s
.
The survey respondees like them, not necessarily the Tire Rack

here is the one Tire Rack test #'s for that tire
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...lay.jsp?ttid=4

Toyo T1R's work great for me in the rain and dry. I don't recommend them for extremely cold environments with snow however.

my buddy has the T1R's, he got them on a used 2003 C230 kompressor sport sedan .... the 245/40R17R on the rears was a factory option (they look stupid cool).... it stuck like glue, too bad it was slower than a pig
