Lightweight Pulley

Anyone else agree with me that a supporting vendor should make a lightweight pulley for our cars? I forgot exactly what the pulley is called to be honest...but I am not talking about a supercharger pulley. Anyone wanna help me out if you know what I'm talkin about?

lightweight crank pulleys do nothing. the only situation were you will see any gains with one is if its an underdrive pulley, and the gains will be small and proportionate to the amount of things driven by that pulley. an ecotec only drives the alternator and a/c (when its off there is no drag). you would see higher gains if it drove the alternator, power steering pump, water pump, and a/c.

short answer- dont bother.

Smoothflow pulleys are billet aluminum and prolly a quarter of the weight of the cast units!

JBP is supposedly making a lightweight alternator pulley as well. If you coupled that with a lightweight crank puelly also would that be worth it?

Is the motor internally balanced or does it used the crank pulley (Harmonic Balancer) to balance it out?

I do not know but I do know that if you put a lightned pulley on a non-interally balanced motor your crank bearing will wear out faster and will cause huge problems down the line.

that is not true at all....even a pound in difference of the crank pulley generates way more power because when it starts spinning the centripetal force becomes much less in comparison of the heavy one...in another words...it takes probably 100-200lbs off ur car during movement.

Does anyone know which of the engines(2.0, 2.2, 2.4) share the same pulleys? I mean that are interchangeable?

I believe the 2.2 and 2.4 are the interchangeable.

yeah, on the celica a light weight crank pulley will cause issues with the oil pump. its die to the removed harmonic balancer. Only way id use one is if its proven to be balanced and still light weight but not underdriven.
