Pealing Dash Paint and Random Lights - Anyone Have These Fixed?
Pealing Dash Paint and Random Lights - Anyone Have These Fixed?
Okay, I've got both of these and am mostly curious what the fixes were?
First the silver trim on my inside door handle drivers side and the center silver trim piece (where the seater heater buttons would be if GM cared about SS drivers cold asses) is pealing. And it's not that it's just pealing but it's as though GM did zero durability testing on this because it comes off with a light rub. I am curious if anyone got this fixed and possibly was able to convince the dealer to clear-coat the rest of the trim? (I do want to sell this car in good shape)
Second, I've seen other forums on this but I've had e-brake light, ses light, check oil light (2days after oil change), and now high-beams come on randomly. Has anyone gotten a re-flash and has this worked??
Finally, it would be nice to have a running list of TSBs on this site? Can anyone hook that up and post as a sticky? (Excuse my ignorance if it already exists)
p.s. I've got a 2005 SS/SC.
Other probs to be, or have been fixed (don't get me wrong, i love my car but it is getting difficult to justify the $$ I spent):
-rear drivers seat squeak
-door panel trim

i have the same exact problem, my paint peels too, i was thinking just femoving them and coat them a couple of times, and i also have that stupid computer glitch with the brake light and high beam light coming on randomly

There is a reprogram for the random brake light coming on. As far as the paint peeling, it's going to be up to the dealership you go to. With the door panel peeling around the inside handle/bezel on the passangers side, there are bulletins for that. New parts are avaliable for manual windows, but a new bezel for power windows will not be avaliable until Feb. of '06. (the new switch/pull-cup bezels are larger to completly cover the material)
I've had the problem with the pass. side door trim and the sunroof bezel coming down on me(all they did was order a new-old-one and put it back on) it still feels like if I push it hard it's going to break and come down again.
Other ****; baffles on the muffler went-got a new one from GM. Car wants to go to the left.........had them re-align and adjust the camber for the left wheel. Sunroof cover on the inside stuck half-way and wouldn't close or open-had them fix that. My car originally came with the wiper module not working and had to wait a week more to get the car in the first place. When I take a hard left turn a spring in the drivers side chair goes "boing" kinda like a shitty old mattress is what it feels like.
I wonder if we'll be able to get, from GM,a list ofwhats gone wrong and the fixes for these or do we just have to sit back and wait for the problem to happen befor we go in and have the dealer replace things. I'm sure the dealer won't be calling us individually to tell us that GM has sent them notices about these "glitches".

yes sir u r absolutly right
the radio bezel has done that to me too. a box hardly rubbed on it and it looks like **** now. I think I'm going to ask about it when ever I get the oil changed, and other various things.
Ya, I looked up the TSBs today, door trim panel-new cup is correct though it didn't mention avilability. Good thing is this will replace the peeling paint on the cup. As for the squeak in the rear seat the fix is no-squeak tape around the striker. Oh, and a reprogram will fix the e-brake light.
I do hope they replace my center silver trim garnish, and with one that has clear-coating so it still looks good when I sell. I imagine this was a poor cost-down decision by GM thinking that the unprotected painted pieces were robust enough.

i have been trying to get the ramdom "dummy lights" and various other electrical problems fixed for over a year. good luck. let me know how it goes. my stereo buttons are also worn through the paint now and have spots the glow when dark.
