I've noticed while driving down the road normally, I can't really hit the pedal to the floor in first without getting a serious amount of wheel hop. For those who have ran down the quarter mile...is it any different because of the stickyness of the track, or do you still have to be conscientious about it. Did this affect anyones quarter mile time? BTW I don't have the LSD. Or if anyone has any techniques to avoid it, that would be great. As soon as it warms up a little I'm going to run.

i was thinking about getting the torque brace but i was told id feel the vibration throughout the car, and im not sure that its worth it just to get rid of wheel hop

does the torque brace work on 2.2? or ss only
I was going to do the torque brace but im shooting for a poly urethane transmission mount instead.
See chevypowered about it.

wouldnt motor mounts be the best bet??
Weapon R works on all cobalts, or at least that's what I read. I've just put the Weapon R on mine this past Saturday night, real easy, 10 minute install. However, alot of people are complaining about vibrationg/grinding noises when they make sharp left turns. The mounting holes on the brackets are too large and allow the engine side bracket to slide up against the motor mount. After trying to re-adjust it, I just left it go for the last couple days. It doesn't seem as loud as the first time I drove with it on, but it's definately still noticable. I can live with it since I only hear it when taking slow 90 degree turns, but I'm not too keen on the idea of anything rubbing against the motor mount.
The good news is with the damper lengthened a good deal, the wheel hop is nearly gone, almost none in first and just a little with hard shifts to second.

yea if it works for the 2.2 i need one badly
When I went to the track I found that lowering my tire pressure (from 40 to 23-25 psi) greatly reduced the wheel hop I was experiencing earlier.

I just took off from the line as if I were on the street and slowly rolled into the throttle avoiding wheel spin all together. Like Alex47 said "wheel hop = broken axle", avoid it like the plague.

Ive already broken both axels...
Everytime I start off, or downshift strongly, I hear the popping of the axels...
Its great... trust me... dont let it happen, or atleast avoid it...

if your axles were broke, you wouldn't go anywhere. you probably fucked up the cv joints. those things pop pretty loud when they are almost gone.

just put more power into it so the wheel hop turns into all out tire spin :twothumbs
