I have the SS 2.4 Auto Coupe, and my Friend has a 2005 Ion3 3door 2.2l. We are gonna go to the track and test it out what our cars compare to.. Now... Who do you guys think will win? I know i have like 30 more HP since his only has 140, but im just a auto, and hes a stick... What do you guys think?

just remember when talking about how much more power you have over a 5 speed our auto's take alot of power to run, so that 30 hp you have at the engine on him may only be like 15hp at the wheels more than him, then it comes down to who weighs more, but i think you will beat him just make sure you start in L to turn traction control off

Even with your car being an automatic, I think you'll be able to take him without much of a problem. Not only does the 2.4 have more low end torque than the standard 2.2, but its got 30HP more on the top end which is a big advantage.
Also note that the Ion 3-door most likely weighs more than your car also, being that it has the extra weight and structure of the 3rd door

Well, im kinda of a newb on how the L and I works. I've read a couple posts on the forum about it... just lemme know if im right here... Start in L, floor it off the line, soon as you get to right before redlining the engine, pop it into I, then it shifts by itself through 2nd and 3rd?
Also, ive never actually raced anyone.. and he just drives a lot too, never races.. so its not like either of us have drag racing experience.

i'm getting confused with all these letters. anyways, i think if you actually launch your car, you will take him outta the hole and beat him pretty good. just hold the brake, floor the gas, when you see the lights dropping on the tree, let go of the brake and have a sesame street episode with your shifter.

Its all about the launch. Dont hammer it hard off the line. Roll into it. Chances are he watches too much fast and furious. While hes blowing the tires off, youll put three on him out of the hole. This way you can pipe his ass from half track on.
