Strange smell w/ GMPP exhaust?

I searched, and didn't find anything. I just installed my GMPP Performance cat-back today. After I took it out to make sure there was nothing loose, I parked, and it almost smelled like plastic melting? Is this normal? Is just the packing in the muffler? It's an 08 LS.

Also, does having a tip make any difference in the sound? I didn't feel like paying 60 bucks for a tip, so I'm going without for now. Thanks in advance.

Thats normal, its burning off all the oils inside the exhaust from the factory. Takes a few days!

It happens with everyone who has them installed.
Burning smell, took a few weeks for mine to disappear.

Once its broken in the smell will go away. Give it 1-3 weeks.

I might be wrong on this, but i think you will want a tip so the exhaust doesnt mess up your bumper.

My GMPP exhaust smelled bad for about a week (300 miles). I know when I took it out of the box it had lots of little styrofoam ***** in it. Took awhile for them all to burn out I guess.

Right
There's protective oil inside. I also got that smell with my GMPP Touring but it eventually goes away.
Just drive on the freeway like I did so it speeds up the process

One more question. Does this system get any louder? When I had Flowmasters on my old truck, after a few hundred miles it got loud as hell. Does that happen with GMPP?
