Talking The Biggest Horsepower Gains For 250$

synthetic oil change 2 Hp 60$
tank high octane gas 3 Hp 30$
rip out your entire interior maybe 15 Hp FREE
add a short ram intake 160$ 5-7 Hp
there you go 20-25 Hp for only $250...you could also cut your exhaust right off just below the exhaust manifold..but it might not sound very good lol

Talking Another Idea Omg

you could also make your own intake...cut a huge hole in your hood...and make intake tubing from plumbing pipe and slap a cone filter on it so it sticks out right in front of your window where the "High pressure zone" is. Then you could afford to buy another 6 bottles of octane booster and add a few more ponniessss....Point being not to much you can do with 250$ go big or go home.

I don't want to spend too much on this car because it is only an auto. I will trade it in for an SS Supercharged in about 2 years.

Mines an auto too. I will be turbo charging and making 400 HP with it. Don't let that limit you.

Also, a pulley is possible for the 2.2 as well. There is more then one pulley on an engine ya know!

The 2.2 can get an underdrive pulley for accessory belt. It will free up power taken by the alternator and AC, but it not a good idea for an everyday driver. You want those things to work when you are at idle.

I've run a UD pulley on the Monte Carlo for two years. The only side effects I noticed in all the hot Texas summers was that the car ran 2 degrees warmer at idle w/ fans off, and the a/c blew a bit warmer at idle.

My big concern with a UD pulley on the Cobalt would be the electric power steering system. A/C Is just a perk.

rsm racing makes a stock sized ligghtweight pulley for the 2.2. its like half the weight of the stock piece and doesnt give the side effects of an underdrive best of both worlds

I think you would be the most happy with exhaust or intake.
