*Help* Installing H7 hid kit into 2nd gen projectors (ccfl projectors) *Questions*
I just ordered an H7 8000k HID conversion kit for my CCFL projectors (2nd gen) & I am wondering if anyone has installed HID's in them already? I'm sure a few of you have, so speak up!!
I know you have to cut a hole in the black rubber cup in the back of the housings so the wires can fit through but was wondering if anyone has any pictures of how big they made the hole or has any info they would like to offer me since I will be doing this myself for the first time!
Any feedback will be helpful! thanks!

Just did. he said he's got no pictures but the hole is like an inch big that he cut & facing downwards so no water can get in. This will be a fun little project to do once this damned winter is gone!
He is talking about the wires from the bulb coming through the rubber cover on the back of the headlight.
I installed my ballasts underneath the black plastic holder. They fit underneath rather nicely!
6000K FTW!!

This is the kit I bought from Ebay. Seems to look pretty good from what I can tell. Better than others on Ebay anyways. $80.00 shipped to Canada by USPS

for the ballasts, i removed the composite bracket that holds the headlights in place...then mounted them with the double-sided tape on the flat surface underneathe them...took a bit more time, but its a clean install.
I have another question, what is this big talk about rely & no relay harnesses with hid kits? How am I supposed to tell if my kit comes with relay or not. If not, then what am I supposed to do? Tap into some wires?
This is the kit & what it comes with. Does it have a relay harness or no? *sorry, I'm an hid noob*:

If it is not seperate then no. My kit does not have the relay but it works just fine.
Some people prefer the relay, some don't.
I am going to be getting some better pictures of the setup once the weather warms up. DAMN WINTER won't go away!!

let me know when you take some new pictures of your setup. I'm probably not going to install mine until the first week of April.

I have the CCFL's with 6,000k hids....here is the thread

BTW don't listen to ppl that say the cut-off is ****. I have had both the 1st gen and the CCFL's and I will take the CCFL's any day. The light output is awesome with hids'. I haven't used my high beams yet and i installed the HIDs on christmas eve lol so just imagine

Also are you using a relay harness? I heard alot of people dont really need it at all unless theyre having problems with the hids lighting up... i.e. flickering, not working.I have another question... what about the auto light sensor? Will my hid's come on automatically at night or will I have to turn my headlight switch to on? Im not sure if this is something that might require extra grounding or wiring or.....?

Do you have any pictures of your setup? Or could you take some by any chance? It would really help me out alot! I am curious to see what the wires look like coming out of the rubber cup at the back of the ccfl projectors & where you mounted your ballasts.. pics would be awesome!

haha i would get some pics but we are getting 10-12 inches of snow right now....and its cold which equals don't wanna pull the headlights out. But i can tell you that when you remove the headlights, there is a black plastic piece that sits under the light, if you unbolt that and remove...mount your ballasts there, then put the black plastic back in, then finally your headlight. USE A RELAY HARNESS!!!!! Just look for a HID kit that has a relay, y not spend the little extra money to protect your wiring. The wires coming out of the back of the cup looks like....well there is just a slit in the black rubber and wires sticking out. Haven't had any trouble with the HIDs at all.
Also, is it possible to get a relay harness if i "do" need it for some reason? Like, I mean can you buy one seperate from somewhere?
i would also like to know. ive owned the 1st gen projectors and had to modify the hid bulbs to fit with the return lead on the bottom so you dont get shadows from the leads. i heard that if you have the bulbs wit the return lead on the top and install them in the ccfl's, you wont get the shadows.. can anyone confirm this? because i cannot find a seller that has the bulbs with the return lead on the bottom.
I know this may be a noob question, but I need to make sure I'm doing this right... I finally got my H7 HID kit today in the mail & want to double check if this is where the prongs go into the ccfl projectors... do they plug into the little socket where the H7 halogen bulb is normally plugged in? If so, then I'm not stupid
Here are the little connectors/prongs I'm talking about in this first picture:

Here is where I'm thinking think they plug in to:

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Can anyone help me out?
