Hello everyone
I have a 2007 cobalt ss/sc no modifications it's none stock
So I have a p0171 bank one too lean Code
I decided to check my fuel pressure after doing some research and finding out the stock fuel pressure is supposed to be about 58psi and my current fuel pressure is 24psi so I changed my fuel filter and no difference still. The fuel pump is actually new I got it in September it's a puralator from advanced auto I was able to get a new one free of charge but I haven't put it in yet I was asking could this be the source of my problem and is the puralator pump supposed to pump the stock 58psi

P0171 is a very popular code for our cars. But with low fuel pressure is weird ...most p0171 is a air leek or your ic pump is shot ....I had the same code replacing my front O2 and ic pump cleared it up. I would get your fuel pressure right tho. Maybe someone hear will chime in and help you...good luck.

Check your air filter. Your air filter housing. You air filter intake piping. There are 2 places where that tubing can cut from vibrations and cause a leak of air after the MAF. This allows p0171 to come up easily.

Yes every pump should produce 58psi all the time. Replace your pump and make sure there's no leaks in the system, it should fix the code. That's over 50% drop in fuel pressure which means the car is adding a lot of fuel to keep from running lean, which is why you get the code. It will still be lean however and you could possibly damage the engine running it at high load like that, I would fix it as soon as possible.
