Engine Sequence Number Decoding

I have an LSJ engine in my custom car; I don't have the sticker that was on the valve cover as it was cleaned of at some point but have the "The partial VIN identifies the specific vehicle by sequence number" ie the number etched onto the oil filter bowl.

Does anyone know how to get this decoded? DMV are asking for the actual engine year?

I rang my local dealer but they had no ideas.

Thanks

Post up the number and some members may be near it and can get you close. You could always just say its an 05 engine

Yeah, it might be tough.... depending on when in the model year the car was produced.

I'd use the date stamped on the oil filter bowel.

ha tried that... "I can't take your word for it" was the response...

>Z20NES 11464712<

Its weird as the manual says it should be a 9 digit number and the first two are month and year...

Z20NE is the block
S is for Supercharged vs T for the Turbo

The rest ????

Yeah that early of an '05 date had to be an '05 engine.
