do tunes affect the computer's ability to monitor mpg?

when you get new injectors and a tune, does the computer take this into consideration in calculating mpg? i assume it would, because the computer has to base how much fuel goes in order to function properly. not sure if it were to base mpg on stock injectors, hence the ?

It doesn't matter what kind of mods you have. The computer calculates the distance driven and the amount of fuel used from the tank to calculate the MPG. There is also a sensor near your injectors (this sensor doesn't care which kind of injectors you have, it simply measures total flow). Obviously some mods are going to make you use more gas, so more fuel will be used, thus changing your total MPG.

So to answer your question, while the computer doesn't necessarily "adjust" for new mods it doesn't have to.

Tune won't matter but bigger injectors will throw the dic off. It is using the injector duty cycle and calculating fuel flow based on the stock injectors. Go to injectors that can flow 50% more than the stock units and the dic will think you are putting 33% less fuel through the engine.

Not sure if you can adjust this in the ecm tune or if the numbers are crunched by the bcm.

I am averaging 26.3mpg this week, I'd say 70% city driving and 30% highway driving. Light driving, with the occasional WOT run in 2nd.

I have gotten 41 MPG

When I had around 10,000 miles on my 07 SS 2.0, I was out high altitude driving about 85-90 MPH and was getting 41! I have a video from my cell that I saved. I will see if I can download it and post it. I think I was listening to Tool!

2 years ago i drove down to Carlisle PA and averaged 37MPG with a full truck of car detailing stuff and suitcases. 65MPH and cruise control all the way!!! Made it there and still had about a 1/4 tank left didnt fill up until the all-gm nats were over and filled up right before we came home.

Ok You stated above you did 372 miles and had an eighth of a tank left. So well say you had 2 gallons left of 13 the tank holds.
372 divided by 11 = 33.8 mpg

that's true but it doesn't change how many miles he made it on a tank. I've done 700km's on a tank before on a roadtrip avg speed was 120-150km car seems to like going 120 alot more than 100

My mods are 2.8 60# injectors, exhaust, etc.

So here's proof of what a tuned lsj can acheive

*notice how I still have 1/8 of a tank left!!

6.0L/100km is 40mpg

Before I got into the city I was averaging 5.7 which is around 43mpg.

thats about right with the wind at ur back. I got something like that going to the states. ss/tc. And thats 40 american miles to the gallon, in canadian its close to 50. our gallons are diff. in summer just driving around i average about 530km on a tank.
