I had my struts replaced today and they always detail the car for me and it usually looks amazing. My car is black mind you, and today I got there a little early and they obviously rushed to get it done.

I picked it up and it looked like someone dried it with a dirty shop wrag... scratches all across the back trunk and hood. Swirls down the sides like crazy. Granted from a 40 ft view the car looks great. Walk up like your going to get in and I about cried.

You guys have anything that I can take a day off work and go nuts on the car to fix what they have done? I was planning on stripping all the wax they have put on and completely start over.

clay bar, cleaner wax, swirl remover, polishing, and a good wax to go over all of it should do the trick

 

If I were in your shoes I'd score some new microfiber cloths, fire up a bucket of meguiars gold class and do each body panel (starting with the roof and making your way down so that water runoff wont be a problem) in unidirectional strokes with a soaped up cloth.

After you've soaped up a body panel, go over it with a fresh dry microfiber cloth. Might want to rip the tag and border off the cloths to avoid scratching.

Keep doing those unidirectional strokes until you no longer feel any resistance and it can slide over the surface with almost no friction. Works for me!



As for the wax, sorry I don't really have a recommendation but I'm sure someone will post about that.


About the 4 year old detailing your car, I thought you were serious for a sec because the dealer I used to work for as a salesman would have a father-son team come in to wash the cars every morning, and ALL the cars looked like you described. Broke my heart to see the kid using that dirty rag on new cadillacs and mercedes.

Sorry to hear about that, we get those complains in a daily basis,

Wash - First Wash with Car Shampoo PH 7

Clay- To remove embedded brake dust and fallout that penetrates the clear coat or paint as well as over spray. ( if you use our oxidation bar you can do this step as you wash the car )

Swirl remover via porter cable, with orange pad and if you want a white pad for the final step removing the wax

Pre Wax - To remove road grime, light oxidization and tar.

Wax- Final Protection

I would send that **** back and bitch like hell....have them redo it over and over until it's right. Say your gonna write a letter.
