Hit gateway up for the second time last night. First run i cut a 2.265 which is the best ive gotten before. I only ran a 14.3 @ 99 which kinda frustrated me because my prior best run was a 14.4 @99 and since then i have put a cai on. After that i decided to take some tire pressure out, so i as i went to buy a bag of ice to put on the sc i told my friend to drop my tire pressure to about 26 psi. My next three runs i couldnt cut better than a 2.45 i left pissed off and when i get home i go to fill up my tires and the psi is at ******* 20. Im sure that had something to do with it but it was still a dissapointing night

P.S. I got there on empty and they only had 91 octane i dont know if that would make a difference though. my mods are s2 2.9 cai

 

So you dropped a tenth with the CAI being the only mod you added since your previous time at the track? Sounds pretty resonable man nothing to be mad about.

 

I agree, you cut a decent 60 foot and dropped a tenth.

The tire pressure had nothing to do with it. Just have to get launching down.

 

A CAI doesn't really add power to these cars, and it's been proven the the Stock intake is the best thing for the car with minimal mods. So I'm not surprised that you didn't gain any trap speed. Your best time is good though, but that has to do with your sixty foot.

99mph trap speed isn't all that great though for stage 2 with a 2.9 pulley. If you still have your stage 2 pulley, put it back on and I'll bet you pick up a mph or 2.

 

Jared.....We need to meet up so i can take a look at your car, a guy i know went 14.2@101 with a 7k redline from HPTuners. Something is not right, is your I/C pump broke, also do you notice any lag etc?? Misfires?? You might need 1 step colder plugs??You might be heat soaking bad?? and 20psi in the tires wont effect you to much. We'll figure it out if you would come out sometime on a thursday man!

 

Yeah I guess heat soak, it wasn't cold last night here in Missouri. I bet your last runs were heat soaked bad. Hell by third gear you may have been too hot and pulled timing on your good run. Can you log your IAT2s?

 

How do you check if the i/c pump is broken? Im actually pretty sure that it is getting heat soaked. Considering i did a 14.6 w/2.4 60 then 14.8 w/2.4 60 then i let it sit for 20 min and hit 14.5 w/2.4 60ft

 

Something def not right. FZN14 went 14.205 with airbox mod and 7k redine at 100mph. I went 13.909 with a 2.8 and 60's with a box tune.

 

I don't know how to check to see if your IC pump is working. You need to monitor your IAT2s with HP Tuners are some other device. I would suggest getting cooling mods. That will lower your times a lot. Go with an extra heat exchanger or meth injection. Also, please don't run your car a lot with soaking. You will kill the engine.

 

what about exhaust? sounds like he's pumping a 2.9pulley through all stock exhaust.

btw I had S2 with a 2.9, and I took the 2.9 off and stuck the stage 2 back on, felt better. I plan on putting the 2.9 back on when Area47 tunes my car in 3 weeks.

I would invest in a full exhaust, I bet you would pick up a lot of mph. I haven't been working on cobalts for very long, but I have a lot of experience in boosted cars and without a free flowing exhaust they don't make power for ****.
