Thumbs down No dash lights

I was coming home from North Carolina and it was about 10 pm. I got sick of listening to the crap on XM so I decided to flip through the FM stations and I found a Baptist preacher channel. After listening to the religeous ramblings for a few minutes the radio got all distorted with static and my dash lights went out. Boost gauge, speedo cluster, climate controls and the window buttons all went out. The radio was still lit up but the dimmer switch would not dim those lights and normally it does. They continued to flicker a little bit and work sporadically throughout the night but now they dont work at all. Checked all the fuses and they were fine. Anyone an electronics expert/mechanical exorcist? Its alot of fun driving 600 miles not knowing your speed WOO.

I think your bcm might be on the way out, otherwise you have a wiring problem in the dash somewhere.

You didnt smell burning wires did you.?

Do your wipers still work ?
Interior lights.
Why Im saying this is because there is a 50 amp main fuse in the trunk that feeds the bcm which inturn directs power to all the other things that you say dont work.
And for some of these things to quit and and not others and not blow a fuse would mean the bcm would have to be fried or a wirng problem in the dash.

The 50 amp fuse feeds
1)door locks and radio fuse --do they work
2)Rap relay which feeds power window fuse and sunroof fuse---do they work
3)ecm/tcm fuse, this one is all the control modules--if these arent working the cars not running.

Nope no burning smell. Rearview mirror lights, wipers, door locks, radio, windows, sunroof all work.

COBLASTS knows what he is talking about, he helped me with my issues. But it seems to me that your bcm is done for. But check every thing first, the bcm usually runs about $220 from the dealer with a discount and the flash is around 100$ So if it is the bcm you would know how much the price is to repair it.

When you say this stuff all went out, do you mean the lights for all this went out or they actually stopped working - can't open windows, no speedo indication, etc?

Side question - are your tail lights (not signal or brake lights) out as well?

Only the lights specified above went out. Gauges and everything still worked correctly.

Hmmmmm. 4 years old, upstate NY (salt on roads?) - if the fuses are ok, check the underhood fusebox itself - have heard of cases of the board inside corroding and failing.

Long shot but that's all I got......

Heres something for you.
Those lights all have this splice in common S233
Location is

S233
(CKT 8) In the I/P harness, lower left of the I/P, approximately 5 cm (2 in) from the ambient light sensor breakout
Not sure where that is exactly but a possibility.
And dont over look your dimmer switch.
Maybe you could find someone to let you try theres for a second to see if it is the problem.

You could also try tapping on it.
