Depends, you can break them on a stock car very easily (wheel hop + sticky track). You can push 350 whp no problem on these axles, however, the first time you get wheel hop/use slicks, forget it.

Axles are real similiar to rear ends in older cars. If you launch from a complete standstill a lot, they won't be happy, but if you let the car roll 2 mph so the lash is taken up, they do pretty well.

I was also putting down 296whp... I was pulling out onto the track and tried to clean off the tires. (don't let you go around the water box at atco, bu no means a burnout, just a roll out)... didn't work so well.. made it home about 20 hours later... and missing a chunk of my thumb (long story)

Axle swaps are pretty easy. Mostly just remove and replace. You may need an alignment afterward since you unbolt the strut. On the FE1 struts (base model Cobalts), the holes aren't slotted. But I hear the FE5 struts (SS/SC) are.

driveshaftshop.com, you can break the stock axles from stock power up, doesnt really matter if you have all the mounts, and bars in the world, you hook, hope, turn the wheel wrong, shift hard, one time they will go, my friend in his redline broke his doing a burnout at the track, he had bwoody solid motor mounts, and bwoody traction bars, its going to happen one day, so might as well get them before it happens.

Automatics are less likely to snap an axle because there is no clutch. Power is engaged to the wheels at the clutch, and then the lash through the trans creates a torque spike at the axle. With an auto, the wheel brakes are what hold the car still, so the lash and torque are already through the axle, greatly reducing the possibility of a snap.

2-3 hops on a launch will do them in on a stock car. Trust me I know! DriveShaft Shop Axles FTW!

you can take them to a local axle shop and have them put upgraded parts on the inside and will cost less than 200$. I found a place that did my grand prix buddy's axles and they work phoenominal! they are gonna charge me 100$

BRAND NEW UPGRADED AXLES FTL

thedriveshaftshop charges so much because they have to purchase new axles to install the hardened parts in.

Yeah, I snapped my left axle from that exact reason and launched at 2300 rpms, so you just gotta be careful with em. As my boys called the Cobalt its a "show room axle breaker" if you arent carefull

given i had to tell a white lie about exactly how i snapped it, i got mine replace under warranty, that and the car had less than 1500 miles on it too

since then i havent even THOUGHT about going back on the track, these stock axles suck major @$$ though I have heard that putting the Ingall's Torque Dampeners will help reduce the chances of breaking them.
