Building Cobalt + Shipping!

Hello guys, Got a few questions.

It was about two days ago i've SAT inside the dealers office to go over the specs and dress ups. There was a certain customization i like on the CobaltSS like color or having onstar remove or stage kits etc. Anyways, Of course if the dealer didnt have the CobaltSS in the LOT, he would have to order one through the computer. <---Which i think its send through General Motors to have it build?

My question is, Has anybody been through this sisuation of waiting for there car for a period of time? If so, does anyone know how long it takes for the car to arrive to a dealership? My location is Central Florida.

Thanks

Vincent.

More than likely they will find one from a different dealer, buy it from them and have it trucked to your dealership. The stage kits and accesories will be installed at your dealer.
Shouldn't take more than 3-5 days depending on where it has to come from

i've been in this situation, but i'm talking from the dealer's side... here in NJ my dealer has no less than 3 ss s/c's (different colors) at any given time

First... you need to get the Stage 2... Stage 1 by itself is worthless.

Second... if you have it ordered from the factory it may take a month or so... but it will get there.

Haven't seen many black/blue combos... it's a rare thing.

Mine took about a month and a half to get to Western South Dakota from the day the order was submitted. My Cobalt was also the first SS/SC to grace the dealership. Once mine got there the floodgates opened up and they got three more in a month later. Mine is still the only one with the G85 package in town. All 3 at the dealer didn't have it and the two others I've seen also don't have it. One thing I don't like is they ordered 5 07's and not one of them had the big wing. Figured they'd at least mix it up a bit.

Well, the stage one isnt gonna be installed yet. Ive order it seperate. I couldnt even have it install in the first place with the car for some reason. The dealer said that he cant add the stage 1 or 2 on the car by computer. Isnt that Odd?

Still, because this is be my first driving manual....i wanted to get use to the POWER itself first.

I'd still go Stage 2 out of the gate... the stage tune actually improves drivability greatly... you can actually use 1st gear for something... I wish mine would have come stage 2 from the dealer...

Boosted cars are a little bit different than say a muscle car with a V8... the "power" isn't even there till you get on it... I can drive mine around all day and poke with traffic and not be in boost... runs just like any other econobox... but once you get that pedal to about half throttle... the fun begins.

Not odd at all. Stage kits are not "factory options." They are dealer installed options. You have to order it seperately and have it installed by the dealer, but you can have it included in the financing. It is no different than a dealer putting aftermarket rims on a car on the lot and making it a "Special Edition" specific to that dealer.

holy crap its my evil twin lol

as these guys said, see if you can pick up stage 2 out of the box. they most likely are going to try and find a match as close as possible to your specs instead of getting it built. if you aren't keen on that though, don't settle if they push to take it now. 2-4 months usually is turnaround on getting one built for you.

where in Central FL are you at?

It took a little over 2 months for mine. I wanted one ordered. If you buy one off the lot, you never know who drove it or how they driven it. Plus, you know what options is on it cuz you ordered it that way.

After it came in I installed the Stage 2 kit and GMPP exhaust on it before the final papers was signed so it will be under the powertrain warranty and emissions warranty.

Hey man.... expect to wait 2 months.. if it comes sooner - great! but don't get too excited. I went through the same problem of wanting to order one a couple days ago.. I decided not to because it wouldnt get here until mid- June. I decided against it because I didnt want to take delievery of a brand new car in June, then have the 2008's (which will be updated and changed ) come out August - 2 months later. So i wait!
