Stage 2 install pricing

So get this, I go to the dealership I bought my SS from and see what they can do for meas far as parts and labor for a stage 2 kit. I go to the parts dept first and see what they get for just the kit. The guy looks it up and says $750 (i kinda expected that). So I ask if he can go any lower if I have them install it too. He says lets go to the service dept and see how much install is so he can see how much of a deal he can get me. At this point I'm like cool they are at least willing to work with me. Well, I talk to a rep from the service dept and he says he will go find out how much it will cost for the install and comes back and quotes get this: $591 just for install. I almost laughed at that point, but I kept my cool and asked if he could do any sort of deal since I was buying the kit there too. He said "No" that is their price for the time it will take to do the job. This time I did laugh and told the guy I was just gonna go to another dealership and left before the parts guy could even get back with a quote on the kit.

Needless to say, I went to the other big Chevy dealership in town and they said they have done a few of these kits and it runs about $900, kit included. So I settled on that price and told the guy to go ahead order the kit and call me when it comes in to set up an appointment for install. I told the guy that I work during the week and asked if they are open on Saturdays. He advised me that they are open on Saturdays but none of the guys that work on Saturdays have ever installed the kit so he offered me their shuttle service so that way I could drop it off in the morning and pick it up after work. Now thats service, letting me know that someone who has installed these kits before is the one who will actually be dong the install on mine.

Its amazing how different service departments can be from one dealership to the next. Almost makes me wonder if i should have bought my car from that dealership too.

I know the feeling...I called around about getting the computer flashed after I installed the stage kit, it was amazing to hear the different rates and number of hours it would take.

Yeah... I got my kit from CED when it was on sale too... heheh. I think I paid $289 for install... a bit steep... but considering the money I saved on buying the kit I came out ok.
