$25k+ for a SS... are they kidding?

Out of sheer curiosity I checked with my two local dealers on the prices of the SS still sitting on their lots. They want $25k for these things!

Am I missing something here? Why pay $25k for a Cobalt when I could get a Camaro with 300hp, RWD, and a 6-speed?

I'm totally flabbergasted... I paid around $21k out the door for my 06 SS/SC... tax, tag, title, and all.

a V6 camaro isn't going to even touch a Cobalt SS on the circuit or tuned period even with full bolt ons the SIDI v6 would need a turbo kit and more ...

are you sure they didn't have the RPD options and other dealer mark ups I would ask .

300hp is still 300hp. Doesn't matter how many cylinders it takes to make it.

20k OTD for my 09. That dealer's got a nice mark up going. Is it a 2010 model?

Yea, but the Camaro is a lot heavier, it won't be as fast, handle as well, nor stop as quickly. Real life gas mileage the Cobalt should win too, lowest I've ever seen was ~25.5.

It will however be a Camaro, so 16 yr old girls (and those w/ 16 yr old mentalities) will love it. The only real benefits I can see are the interior, exterior look, and RWD.

rolf hp isnt all its cracked up to be there son :P do you see 300hp 300c's beating TC/ss's? fyi if the car is heavy it doesnt matter and a cobalt is lighter than a camaro.

Dealers are going to ask msrp, its called negotiating.

I realize negotiation and blah blah blah... and it's not like I'm going to go buy one anyways... I like the utility of my truck too much to part with it right now. I was just astounded that they were asking that much.

I would normally agree with a statement like this. However, that does not hold true in this case. I always told myself I would never buy a Camaro or a Mustang with a V6 no matter how much power it made. For me personally, its not a real Camaro or Mustang without a V8.

I paid $19000 on the cash for clunker deal. Tax title and plate included. There was also a $1000 rebate included with 2.9% financing. If you buy a car this year you can write off the sales tax on the Obuma plan. I think there is a $2000 rebate depending on what kind of financing you get.

This post is very misleading. You say you paid 21k with TT&L. Did you pay sticker price, or did you negotiate that? When you went to the dealer, did you just look at the sticker price and see $25k, or is that the best price a salesman quoted you on?

Why are you surprised it stickers for 25K? Hell my SS/SC stickered higher than my TC . SC was 25.5 K (g85 option was 1500 in 06) and TC was 24.6K

whats funny about this statement is Mustangs werent immediately available with the v8 so technically 6 cylinders are the true powerplants of mustangs

...what 1/2 a year of a I6 in 1964 constitutes the mustang being a 6 cylinder "true powerplant", the v8 was in the stang in 1965. How about how the camaro is a knock off cuz it was made 3 years after the stang....

Ah yes, you were lied to also, it's not a rebate or credit. It's a tax deduction.

the original poster of that mustang comment said "Mustangs werent immediately available with the v8", the SVO I4 was in the 80's....the mustang came out in 1964 1/2....

Might I remind all you camaro nut swingers that the camaro had a 4 cylinder? 3rd generation in the 80's..So what now?
