07 Brakes to replace Brembos

In searching and reading it appears the Brembos can be removed and replaced with 07 brakes fairly easily making 16 wheels/snow tires possible. Can anyone confirm this?

My understanding is that I would need: 07 SS Rotors, 07 SS Calipers, 07 SS Pads, and 07 SS Flex lines and then it's a simple bolt-on changeover.

TIA

How could you possibly justify swapping to inferior brakes. Even after the threads made by TC owners claiming their Brembos can save lives?!

My driving style does not require road race brakes and the roads I drive on (winter pot holes) wouldn't take kindly to low profile tires in the winter.

I see a trend developing here....

I guess I kinda expected these types of responses. Oh well.

Flamage doesn't bother me...I'm sure there'll be lots more of it. It's mildly entertaining. I don't don't expect many (if any) to agree with my position on the Brembo's but I'm hoping to get either a confirmation or a "no, it won't work" response.

I haven't bought the car yet, and won't if 18" wheels are the only option; that's a deal breaker for me. Has anyone actually had problems stopping with an 06-07 do to the brakes being to small?

make sure to sell your nice breaks to a desiring LSJ. In fact a better idea, why dont you find an LSJ to do the whole swap with, wheels and breaks! maybe make him pay some.

18" is not your only option u can fit the 17" ss/na rims with the brembos for a snow tire.

If you were to put 16" wheels on this car, you traction control and stability control would be uber fucked

You guys talking about the inferior brakes should look at the road test comparing the braking of the SS/SC and SS/TC. They are within a couple feet and the SS/SC braked better 0-70 lol. I know the Brembo's would be better on a track but the LSJ brakes are great for a Daily driver.

Yeah don't mind any of the duesches flaming for wanting to "downgrade." I would love to do the same mod because 16" slicks for track use would be the ****. ZZP did this mod to their Cobalt that just ran an 11.99...did anyone flame them? NO.

You're considering buying the brake parts and a new set of wheels and tires. I would think the most cost effective route would be to keep the Brembos and get a set of 17 inch wheels that will fit and put dedicated snow tires on them. This way you have tires that perform best on dry roads in the summer and tires that perform best in cold weather and snow. You also won't need to shell out the cash for the brake parts.

After having a GTP that didn't like getting moving in the snow, I was dead-set on my next car being AWD. Then I got a set of dedicated snow tires and the car drove like it was on dry roads through most of the winter conditions. I will be doing the same with my TC, but I wish there were some steelies out there that would fit.

Best brakes in the world mean nothing if there's no traction between the rubber and the road. People flaming this guy for switching to smaller brakes and better winter traction are not looking at the big picture. SS/sc brakes are still pretty good, if a little more prone to fade. That said, it's probably more cost- and time-efficient to get a set of 17" wheels and tires that fit over the Brembos.

for ***** sake...leave the dude alone about the brakes...if you dont plan on road racing your car what the **** is the point to having brembo's?!? honestly...what? so you can say "yeah my car comes with brembo's pretty baller right?!" **** that...swap brakes with someone that has a SS/SC and get some hawk pads and slotted rotors and you'll have a pretty damn close comparison to the almighty brembo's...not to mention i dont wanna know what replacement pads/rotors or even calipers would cost for the brembo's...

so to answer your question yes its possible to swap front brakes

I am quite aware of how good our brakes are, I like them alot... but swapping would be pointless IMO. Just go with 17's and you can fit a pretty beefy tire on there... probably 215/50 if you wanted to.

Do the swap I don't know very much info on the swap but I've heard its simple. The people flaming you are idiots. Unless your tracking your car every weekend the brake difference isn't a big deal at all. And if your into drag racing now you can get some better tires for that too on there.
