09 bluetooth radio, compatible with 08??

I have been reading a couple of threads with people that have the 09 SS and they have the bluetooth and usb port. I was wondering if they were compatible as in plug and play with the 08 SS?? If so if anyone is upgrading their radio to an indash unit would you be willing to trade radios?

theres no button on our wheel for bluetooth, so that would kinda suck...Usb should plug& play its within the brain of the h/u itself...id have 2 look at it but i believe splicing the volume down button (wich is where it is on the 09's) to the bluetooth wire for end call from an 09 model would allow you the same thing, obviously without the little decal of the phone. Im going in dash but i have an 08 model...sorry

Your probably gunna run into a simlar situation as did the 2006 and 2007 it can be done but you need to slice all the wires to make it work. Which probably wont be worth it.

YEA, i thought of that as well but if i just remember what buttons are what i think that the wiring harness is the same. i doubt GM would change a whole body harness and wiring harness for a diff radio. atleast i hope they didnt so i can have a stock bluetooth unit

i bet they did simply because they need more wires for the bluetooth the usb is probably just internal, no wiring to mess with there so id guess no more than 3 wires to play with (from the h/u)

You won't be able to retrofit an 08 with the 09 bluetooth setup...

There were software upgrades , module change and wire harness changes to the 2009's to support the Bluetooth feature . Youd have to retrofit the 2009 version of Onstar . Im pretty optimistic about getting wrong things to work No one said I could get a 07 6 disc radio to work in a 05 but I did .....saying that , I can tell you 100% , you wont be able to adapt the bluetooth functions because there would be no way to retro in the 09 version of onstar . If you could find a GM tech that was smart enuff to unlock a incorrect model year headunit ( its not the standard vin relearn process in Tech2 ) and if GM didnt change the postions of the rest of the wires in the radio harness ( the connector is the same between 08 and 09 ) , you possibly could get the radio to function just without bluetooth( which is tied in with onstar , it uses the headunit for sound thru the oem speakers just like onstar ) . The USB port functions are internal to the radio and should function correctly as far as displaying ipod info on the screen . Im pretty versed in the OEM electronics and trying to get the OEM bluetooth to work would be a failing project .

I got a Parrot aftermarket setup installed in my '08. Works better than the built-in speakerphone does.

That looks awesome. How is it working for you? How good is the radio quality? So the unit is a standalone or what? Details? Interested. Thanks
