I had this image saved. For what it's worth:

For 2008, the Cobalt SS will be turbocharged. For 2009, the 2.2 will be the LAP instead of the L61.

I resurfaced the photo because I know that the SS Turbo will be out mid year 08 for sure! I spoke to a plant manager at Lordstown who told me so and several people from this forum can back me up. We were there for the annual show they had in July

I think it would be dumb to have a 2008.5 model. I mean look at the G8 isnt that considered a 2008.5 model since it doesnt come out in october like the rest of the cars? If they were gonna release the turbo balt in sayyyy, july, they would be retooling for the next year's car already. Im just suspicious of this, for something thats only MAX 6 months away, and none has seen one or driven one?

Looks like there will be a 6-speed offered with it(f40). That would be nice.

We dont this is SUPER speculation. Apparently a 370 hp grand prix (g8) is less important than a turbo cobalt so the balt is being kept "under wraps"

Anyways what is this LAP engine?

I googled "f40 transmission" and it came up as GM 6-Speed transmission.

there's been enough proof that it's coming out. I don't see why it's SUPER speculation anymore with all the sources that have come forward, all the pics that've come up, and even spec sheets from gm employees.

The new 6 speed and turbo lnf engine have me sold power-wise. I'm just waiting to see if the rest of the car gets to me. Personally I'd like to see more pics of this thing. It's kinda gay that gm is being so secretive about it.

as far as I've seen the lnf is all forged internals. I haven't seen a hp limit yet but considering the stock motor puts out 260hp and they intend on putting out 3 staged kits then I'd have to think that it would safely handle at least 350hp. I would hope more, but I would expect it as a tuner-based car to handle no less than that
