This car stock will beat outperform the G6 GXP (a car going fopr $40k fully loaded at my local dealer). Isn't that kind of messed up that Chevy's base car will nearly beat Pontiac's (GM's "performance" brand) entire lineup. Sorry if I'm not the first bloke to mention that.

The SS/TC is gonna destroy the G6 GXP, you cant even compare them since the GXP is at least 500lbs heavier and has LESS horsepower [b]AND[/b torque!!!!!

And I dont know whay your dealer is getting $40k since MSRP for a fully loaded one is $29,785 and even if you add the #3,500 for dealer installed accesory wheels, exhaust, weather gaurds, mats and window vents listed on the "Build your G6" page at pontiac.com you still come to well under $34k.

Second this isnt Chevy's base car its the SS version of the base car, and as far as I know the TC will only beat the G6GXP, not the Solstice. The Torrent is going away so it doesnt count. And there is no GXP version of the G8 yet, we dont need even worry about that because the TC will have a hard enough time fighting with the G8 GT, let alone if/when Pontiac releases a 450+hp version of it. Not to mention that ALL of these vehicles are in completely different categories as far as size, style and price are concerned.

And by base car you mean the bottom of the line car, I think that would be the Aveo. But an Aveo TC...eh, won't even go there.

Excellent

I will be getting an 08 SS. I'm probably going to wait until May or June (I just moved to Cali, still not 100% situated)

I honestly don't need a special set of gauges. Besides, I'm sure you will be able to get the gauge off of CED once it comes out.

I'm just pissed that they got rid of Sunburst Orange Metallic!! I guess I'll have to settle for black.

I'm in Canada, which is why the GXP costs so much, starts at 35k. The Chevy dealer here only sold a few SC's, I'll be suprised to see a TC. And yeah the SS/TC shouldn't outperform a 50/50 RWD roadster, hence "nearly" the entire lineup.

Who cares if they're not in the same class, the G6 should have AT LEAST 280 hp.

I would like to know where this special set of gauges are supposed to be going (A-Pillar [Triple gauge pod/Double gauge pod], or in the DIC)??? & What are they supposed to be measuring? But I agree, a vendor should have the same thing shortly after it comes out (if it's on the A-Pillar).

My guess is that youre still gonna have a boost gauge in the A-pillar just like 05-08 and that the "reconfigurable" display is gonna be another DIC type display under the speedo(look at your gauges youll see where I mean)

Lol. I don't know what you mean...
Do you think it's going to be something like the Interceptor gauges... Display 2 things @ once (rpm, shift light, coolant temp., exhaust temp.)???

I think there is going to continue to be an analog boost gauge in the A-pillar just there has always been on the SS/SC and is on the '08 SS/TC and that the additional performance type info that we "may get" will be viewed in another Driver information Center very much like what we have now under the tach. it will just be another display under the speedo. So we'll have two of those little blue displays in the instrument cluster instead of just one like we do now.

The most exotic thing i can imagine them doing is moving the "idiot" lights from the center of the cluster where they are now, to under the speedo and putting in a 2005-2007 CTS-v style display in the middle of the cluster.

I'll send Kanabrewski a 6pack of his favorite brew if we get some sort of totally customizable PDA sized display in the A-pillar that looks anything like whats in the 1st post of this thread.

Remember, whatever they do for 2009 is potentially a year only item, as the Cobalts are scheduled to switch to the Delta2 platform and move from Ohio to Mexico for 2010.
