I can only imagine a stage 3 big turbo swap.
not going to be easy with the dual scroll turbo unless everything is swapped out
at 290 hp GM should be proud, they knocked the 2.0 4G63 off the top 4cyl hp production engine

if you think you shouldn't trade in your ss/sc because the turbo isnt worth it than thats exactly what your saying. stock for stock the turbo is a better performance wise. to trade in your ss/sc for the turbo is not worth it. i own a 2.4L SS and i will be trading it in because it is worth it to me. if you are are anti turbo then you are in the wrong discussion. im not putting down the ss/sc guys because there is nothing wrong with them, but to me a turbo cobalt is gonna superior to the supercharged as far as performance goes.
JUST MY OPINION AND JUST MY MONEY

True Story.
Was that the girl you introduced me to last Thursday?

...on a more serious note
I lol'd really loudly (so loud my brother looked at me funny in fact..) when I read the "i know a guy who knows they're releasing a blow off valve" post.

I've spent two days reading about this engine, and I know already that without heavy tuning, or a MAF bypass, this engine will not have a BOV that exhausts into the atmosphere. The engine was built around a system which returns the air into the intake. If you were to remove that extra air from the intake, the engine would not run well at all because it's expecting certain amounts of air.

Too bad the 4g63 has a bazillion times more potential at making power.

sweet deal with the stage two stuff...but ill still say to those people that are going to trade their ss/sc for the ss/tc......if you were going to turbo your LSJ and build that you could get 350whp for less money then you would to buy the new ss/tc and get that same hp.....it just doesnt make sense.

i need to know what the 1/4 might be b/c i'm torn between the t/c balt and 09 camaro. i know big difference right? but if the 1/4 is going to be extremely fast then i'd rather have the balt instead of spending a ton of money on the camaro

Well i've already emailed crate engine depot, and what they said was that late next year they will offer the new upgrades as far as suspesion and braking to the ss/sc crowd. Also the lnf ass a crate motor.

its easy to get more power. do away with all the plastic piping and run 3in. pipe. fab up a intake and header back exhaust and tune it and your looking at close to 300 horses.

Running wider charge piping has been throwing CEL's, triggering limp-mode, or showing zero gains in the Sol/Skys. And a tune is gonna be a bitch, due to the DI and the thousands of fuel/timing parameters. Why do you think that there is only one company selling a canned tune so far? And why does that tune cost $1K? Its not as easy as you think.

for the record there's a guy on the RLForums. who has a sky RL retuned BONE stock and its makin some serious HP.. IIRC its like 275hp and 305 tq at the wheel's STOCK.. jus retuned for 23psi.. which is the turbo's MAX.. but he has NO issue's..

funny thing is, I was talking to Mike from New Era Performance (one of the supporting vendors, and local shops) and he called this whole LNF thing about 6 months ago, he already seemed to know for a fact the cobalt was going turbo and the pcm was changing, according to what he said back then, is the pcm is really hard to change, it works well as is, but doesnt sit well with changes

im sure HPT will have a field day..
really man if you trade in your 07 ss/sc for a 08 ss/tc your really stupid, you be losing a lot of money if you trade in your car and plus its not worth it just because it has more hp and a turbo all u have to do is mod up ur supercharger and you be kicking the ss/tc you got to think with your head first man

the plastic piimg from the factory i would guess a 2.5 or 3inch so swaping to stainless shouldnt thorw a cel code. there is a reason there is a dyno its called a custom tune.

Yeah, and thats the bsr tune that I was talking about, for $1K. You didn't think he just bought HPT and popped out a tune in 10 minutes like you can on the ss/sc, did you?

Even that little increase in airflow is too much for the pcm to read. And, yes there are custom tunes. But, if you go to a reliable dyno shop and ask them to tune, they will tell you they have to hold the car there for 2+ weeks. That is, of course, if you want any measureable gains.

If any shop has a bit of tuning knowledge or common sense, they can tune a car right on in a matter of a few hours at most.

You guys obviously haven't looked at the LNF on HPT, so I'm not gonna argue what you guys "think".

As much as I like to hear the whine on the SS/SC, and yes you don't hear many S/C'd cars on the road which makes ours more unique, GM switching to the turbo makes alot more sense, It'll get way better mileage, instead of our SC's sucking down the gas, and turbo's have more potential whether we want to admit it or not so it was a goog move. Also I have not driven the Solstice GXP or Sky Redline but my dad who is a test driver at GM's Milford Proving grounds has test driven the HHR SS and he said that he didn't hear any sound of air being exherted from a blow off valve. So who knows you may even have to equip it with a blow off valve to get that sound.
