2009 ss Broke sedan cracked block?
Well was driving home over the weekend and noticed low coolant for the first time on my dash checked the rear windo no smoke pulled it on the garage on stands and inspected for leaks nothing... checked the oil looks good shrugged it off topped it off and drove to work the next day.
Drove about 15 miles and get low coolant again not good.. pull in to work and check my oil...nice milky orange dexacool good ness in the oil and resivoir is empty car ran fine temps were fine looks like the block cracked or possibly head gaskted although it dosent seem like it...
Cars at the dealership and i have a extended warrenty from a third party that covers engin blocks will keep you guys updated.

What is your build date ?
I just turned 37K and have been watching the coolant level - no changes yet.
The 5 year warranty is up here in a week or so, but I have an extended GM warranty for at least another year or so.
At any rate, good luck, and sorry to hear about that.

dealer said engine needs to be replaced dident tell me specefics again... service advisor dosent seem like he knows said hes new... hope to find out more later but they quoated me 3700 for a new engine and 20 hours labor i had to remind them i have a warrenty company and to give them the quote... this has been a mess
Stop! Don't let the dealer go ahead and order you a new engine until they figure out what happened. If it's a porus block issue, like stated previously, there should be an extended warranty for that alone. Tell them to check the TSBs for it. If they order a new engine, etc. they will never actually find the cause of it because they will gladly just charge you for it since it's easier to get money from you than from GM

Have you contacted another dealer since this one is being ignorant of a known issue?
UPDATE: Dealer pulled the head and says its pitted and the block looses about 3quarts while under pressure for 30 mins they want to replace the engine but not under gm warrenty since its outside of powertrain . Warrenty company wants them to find the cause of failure or point of failure so still no rental/loaner car going on day 8

they dont ever warranty ****. no surprise there lol. i was bone stock and cracked a trans, no coverage with the powertrain warranty.
^^^^ alot of people have bad experiences with dealerships but mine has been in for alot of warranty work and never a question asked. i even had motor replaced and a rental for 7 days.
