2010 Cobalt SS production numbers?
Interesting you would think there would be something in the 2010s by now. I wonder what the overall total made was in 2010. Guess I'll have to keep an eye out. Thanks for the one link though def saving that.
yeah you would think so but still nothing lol. it cant be too too much, i mean there were only 2000 some coupes made in 09 so the 10s i know there is less then that.
Yea considering it was the last year they made them. I heard it was little more than 2008 but I'd love to find out. I'm about to buy a 2010 ss next week.

From my personal observations 2009 should be the high water mark as far as production numbers are concerned;
Not that I expect many people here to recall by now, but the '09 model year was slated to be the Cobalt's last - 2010's were only made because of the delay in bringing in the cruze, and to use leftover parts;
The cruze was delayed because of GM's financial troubles in the midst of the economic downturn.
The original 2008 model year GM sales/training suggested much higher model year production numbers than what actually happened - because no one saw the economic down turn coming;
Some here might recall that initially (at the end of the 2009 model year) the 2010 Cobalt was going to happen;
At that time the Cobalt SS wasn't going to happen;
Then it was announced that 2010 Cobalt SS's would be built;
Then during the whole model year there were warnings of a deadline for receiving orders for Cobalt SS production... this never actually happened.
It has long been my personal opinion that the 2010 SS production is purely derived from GM using up "extra" parts from the initial order of components for their lofty projected sales figures for the first model year (iirc they were projecting eight thousand units in the first calender year(?));
What supports my assertion of Chevrolet using up leftover parts on the 2010 model year Cobalts is that most 2010 model year Cobalts received the 'Pontiac' HVAC & radio surrounds - this would have been excess parts for cars that were not built for the 2010 model year;
If my recollection on calender year projected sales is correct, using numbers I got earlier (here), I accounted for 5,565 2008-2009 Cobalt SS's having been produced;
If GM was on the hook, because they ordered wheels, intercoolers, turbos, charge pipes (and everything else specific for our cars) for 8,000 cars, then I would estimate that aprox 2,400 Cobalt SS's would have been built for the 2010 model year.
This makes the numbers look like this:
*projected sales for first calender year = 8,000*
2008 my (SS/coupe): 1,766 <1,766>
2009 my (SS/coupe): 3,040 <4,806>
2009 my (SS/sedan): 759 <5,565>
2010 my (SS/coupe): 2,435 <8,000>

I don't know, there were alot of younger guys that purchased them and drove them hard. My insurance agent told me the reason the insurance was roughly the same price as vette was due to how many had been in accidents. I live in the middle of nowhere, and i'm the only guy in the county with one. There are several in Indianapolis, but not tons, so i'm thinking there's not a lot of them left. I thought i remembered mongorat said one time there may be less than 1/2 due to how many parts he had pulled off of wrecked ones in the salvage yards, but i dont want to speak for him.
I would estimate that roughly half are gone.
I would also suspect that ones written off while they were still being produced were more likely to have been repaired - this would possibly account why there appear to be more '08 models out there...

best year because of "o-rings"?
seriously?
if there was a TSB all cars would have been updated when in for servicing - but I personally never heard anything about an o-ring change...
'10 was supposed to be a limited run - but ended up being full year (iirc).

I guess the 2010 got more standard features like LSD and the RPD. Correct?
now, on the other hand, I have a roush, now that is LIMITED and RARE and very collectable. on those, the numbers matter, since they need to match. 1 of 13 made in California.
just my 2 cents tho.
but its a regular GM produced car, how rare can it be? 10s of thousands are made?
