2010 mazdaspeed3 to compete with cobalt ss/tc????
I'd like to see them both run a comparison lap(like what they did with the ZR1 and Skyline) out at the 'Ring. I'd be willing to put money that the SS will still be the fastest FWD out at that track.
i think you guys are on crack. my stock 08 ms3 was definately equal to a ss/tc. however the no-lift shift thing definatly gives ss/tc drivers an advantage over inexperienced ms3 drivers on the track.
the 2010's will have a 2.5L 4 cyl, no HP/TQ numbers have been released by mazda yet. probably fwd though. as for aftermarket, the ss/tc will probably hit the same wall the ms3's have, at a certain HP range you guys will start blowing motors due to exessive cylinder heat issues. ms3's are limited to around 350WHP reliably on the stock 'forged' internals.

mazda3 sucks. looks like a shoe on wheels. it would be embarrassing to drive one... plus they cant handle at all! and the power numbers are not that impressive since its a BIG 4 cylinder. what is it a 2.3? and the numbers really are not that impressive. damn they are just soooo ugly. wow i really feel better now

looks are subjective. some people dont mind looking like they are driving an Enterprise rental. some people dont mind driving around in a shoe on wheels. id love to see teh MS3 and SS/TC race at the ring to see which car really is better. the only time the MS3 was driven on the Ring the driver had never driven the track before so he was at a disadvantage from the beginning.

the cobalt im pretty sure will out handle a mazda3... in a drag race you might have the upper hand b/c 2.3 adds up from factory. i cant wait to see which one does the best with just stock turbo
no but its RWD it has a big advantage right there. oh yeah and it looks ten times better than the MS3 and SS/TC
HKS Genesis. the 4cyl turbo was designed with mitsubishi so it should be pretty stout and mod friendly

wasint designed with mitsubishi, the engine they use is the 2.0L world turbo, same engine in the csrt-4 (they have a stroker kit) and the evo.
Its always a battle of better. MS3 will be better, then GM or Dodge will release something better than that, then ford, then mazda again, etc...
I dunno about that Hyundai... it looks like someone just didnt know when to stop designing it! And if it is anything like previous Hyundai's, replacement parts are going to cost an arm and a leg for it.
Consider the Cobalt SS Turbo will more than likely be dead by the time the new MS3 hits the US market I don't think you'll be able to compare the two directly, new-for-new, and knowing Mazda and how good the current car is the new one should be even better. I'm pretty brand agnostic and try to remain unbiased and I bet it will do quite well. Faster? Handle and ride better? All quite possible or at least match the current Cobalt.
If you don't care if the Cobalt is still in production, then if any FWD to be released in the US can best the track numbers I'd say the Focus RS would have a good chance. There's a good chance we'll see it here on our shores in '10 as a MY'11 model. While the new 3 and Focus both share a similar modified Focus "C1" platform, the new RS has a trick "RevoKnuckle" front suspension that incorporates double-wishbone like movement into the Macpherson strut and is said to dramatically reduce torque steer and maintain precise steering over different pavement and road conditions.

Well the current one does already...and the next one is MORE THAN LIKELY gonna be lighter, have somewhare north of 300 hp/tq with an 2.3 or 2.5l turbo engine...so i'd say yes it will outdo the cobalt ss...besides the fact that the interior and overall build quality is insanely better...
the 2010 3 5 door is 25% lighter than the old one...
It will also MORE THAN LIKELY be FWD...
and the current one is quicker or as quick as the balt ss as is, not to mention as good if not better than the balt on the track...the balt is 10 seconds quicker around the Ring than the current ms3 and the balt had a professional driver who knew the track and the car very well while the ms3 had an ameture driver who had never driven the track or the car and was driving on and open track day so he was slowing down for other cars, etc...

o yeh I heard about that genesis but look how heavy it is...and fro the MS3...I don't want awd...I like having good low mid and high end power...not just low with some mid like the wrx's and evo's ...and it would add too much weight...look how the ms6 turned out with its awd system...an overwieght car with not enough power to overcome the weight issue.
Thats with navi...the balt doesn't even have that as an option...the build quality and interior is worth the extra money...NVM...THe Balt SS fully loaded is 26,105...vs ms3 loaded without navi is 25,948...
MS3 FTW!!!

LOl... I thought you were gonna go there...w/e I'd still rather pay a couple g's extra for a much nicer car...and the balt ss is more comparable to the sport model which is less expensive...and learn to negotiate...I got my mazda dealer down to 21,500 for the GT...
And why is your name Mazdaboi if your supporthing the rental car...jk...if the balt had a decent interior i'd possibly be getting it instead of waiting for the 2010 MS3
