Im waiting for the bearings so I can make the bushing to block off the oil feed hole in the block that goes to the back journal of the original balance shaft. Found the tool for R & R of the bearing on EBay cheap

No Im eliminating them all together. You still need the front part for the chain though. The rear needs to be blocked off with a bushing so there is not a massive oil pressure drop. My extra blocks on the stand so its easy to do now rather than later.

What does this do for you, though? Is it just a parasitic-loss thing?

Im not sure about my 92 but its best time was 14.98 in the 1/4 mile stock. Im working on a 496 engine for it now. Hoping to get about 550 HP and 600 tq with a mild roller cam and ebay aluminum heads .

You must be older, like me. I remember when those trucks first came out. All the young guys were foaming at the mouth over the 454. Then you drive one, and you're like, "wtf? Nothing happens when I mash on the gas!" The poor motor was weighted down with pure emissions.

Is your Firebird the one with the GN motor, perhaps? I just remember the little oval badge with the wings on it. I only ever saw one in person because my brother owned it. I haven't seen one since. Edit: I guess not, I don't think I see it on the ground effects.

That was it, the Indy edition. My brother totalled that car is some SSCA race. He now has an '87 GN in place of it that he owned since 1991.
