Do I need to adjust my wastegate rod?

Got together with Vince....and this is what he said:

"You have a problem with the turbo – more specifically its wastegate.
You just reinstalled the original GMS1 tune, and it has the same symptom. What’s happening is the turbo is slightly overboosting, then underboosting during part throttle, causing this surging effect.

It looks like the wastegate might be sticking or maybe isn’t adjusted properly. Have you messed with the wastegate adjustment on the turbo? A popular early mod to these was to adjust the wastegate actuator rod length.

We might also be able to tune it out, but that might be putting a band-aid over another problem - nobody else needs to have the WG settings messed with in their tune unless they’ve changed the turbo."

- Vince Geglia

Trifecta Performance, Inc.

Would you guys try to adjust the wastegate rod or just replace the entire wastegate actuator?

Here are a few more recent video's that I sent to Vince...like I said...this only occurs at part throttle. At WOT...runs fine...no surging, 27 lbs boost spike while Trifecta is engaged.

video's are working perfect here

I know for a fact it's not the sensor's....it would have shown up in the datalog. I guess another question would be....what would cause the wastegate to open and close under part throttle? Does the wastgate actuator need adjusted?

Yes, it could, it could be stuck open, making the car think it needs more psi for efficiency

Canyone tell me if I can use this vacuum pump (for brake bleeding) to test the wastgate actuator?

Someone told me to use this....just hook the vacuum line up to the wastegate actuator, pump it up, and see how many PSI it opens up at...

Does this make sense to test the wastegate actuator?

If you put the true stock file on the car without anything trifecta and it still does it. it.can be the Pid controller or the actual wastegste.. to me its the Pid controller and not the wastegate actuator. Because if its sticking it won't speraticslly jump up snd down.

Hey James, is the PID controller the black unit with 3 vacuum lines and an electrical connectors? (Wastegate actuator solenoid?) If it is....I've already replaced it.....still runs the same....

Lol got'cha, that makes a little more sense

So....can't I just remove the Trifecta Tune completely (leaving just the GMS1 tune)? I wonder why he did'nt make me do that anyway instead of reloading his comparable "GMS1 tune"???

Could the bypass valve have anything to do with it? Correct me if Im wrong but ...... Usually if the wastegate has any over/under boost problems the car will drop into mechanical boost mode ( 5psi limp deal) . Does it throw any codes?

Or maybe this thing is just way over my head and I should STFU lol ..... just tossing out ideas.

I'm all for idea's my guy
I inspected the stock BPV...it was fine...but to be safe..I installed a forge motorsports BPV...and still acts the same.

It has NEVER thrown any codes. Just waiting on Vince to send me my factory tune.
BTW James...if we meet up in Noblesville on the 11th....what will you be able to do you think?

James ive suggested to shawn to come in and flash to car back to stock with a tech 2. Then reflash it w the gms1 tune from the tech2.

Sorta like i did back in aug before you got ahold of the car. Remeber i took out the old tune to see if it was what was causing my random misfires, and we(tech @ work) flashed the gms1 file back on and the next day to got ahold of it. And its ran fine since.
Just my .02 tho

Hey Rob, would one of the techs do that for me at Hare? Sam Pierce will not touch my car anymore. If so....how would I go about getting it done?? Let me know....because at this point....I'm willing to try ANYTHING.

He sent me my stock, original GMS1 file. I loaded it back on the car...and it still surges. So...for the time being, I don't have the Trifecta tune loaded on the car at all. BUT....I'll probably reload it later just because the car runs the same...but still has alot more power with the Trifecta loaded and engaged.
