remote start

Who has a remote start installed in their tc and what brand did u go with? I just had a compustar installed and idk if i really like it. there's a bunch of weird **** about it. After i take the key out the car continues to run until i open and close the door. I was told this is how it's designed. If i go back into my car, say to get something it of it and not start it, the remote start won't work. The trunk button on the remote only unlocks the doors. I was told bc of the bcm there's nothing they can do. I had it installed at a very reputable shop in Belleville nj. Anyone have any other experiences?

Bought mine with a Clifford system on mine. To activate mine, ive got to:

Neutral, press foot brake, set park brake, release foor brake and with-in 15 seconds push the start button on the remote. At that point the lights will flash 3 times and turn off, then i can gather my things and get out of the car. The car stays running until i hit the lock button on the remote.

Like you tho once i set the start feature completely(lock button), if i go back to get something out of the car, it will deactivate the remote starter.

most of the remote starts designed for stick shifts use a method like yours or similar. Just a safety measure to make sure your car is in neutral and not going to drive through your garage or down the road if you remote start it with it in gear. I have had a remote start installed on my old balt for 2 years and just go through a system to remember that its in neutral... never had any issues with it. but it does put you at risk every time you hit the button

The biggest thing that annoyed me is not bring able to go into my car to get something out. So what i did was just unplug the passengers side door switch. So now the car thinks that door is always closed. Yeah, now the lights won't come on when that door is opened but i don't care about that. At least now i can go get something out of my car and my remote start will still work :-)

That seems like a huge pain in the ass. I start my car up in the morning and let it run while I change out of work clothes and then go home. When I get back the car is nice and toasty in side, normal operating temp and the key works just fine every time.
