About to purchase a 08 turbo ss, need help on upgraded turbo kit before i buy (zzp)

Im looking at a new cobalt as a daily driver. Im looking for something that will be a fun daily reliable car that looks stock. Would like a reliable 450 whp. But before i buy the car i need to make sure im headed in the right direction.

I have been looking at upgraded turbo kits such as zzp and others. According to zzp you can only buy there tubro kit if you have it installed there is my understanding? If so i would have to go a diffrent route as I will be doing my own work. Also im new to these cars. I know the turbo is in the back of the motor from my understanding, roughly how much time does it take to throw on a kit such as the zzp kit, curious how long it would take to swap in and out in case i need to take it to the stealership for any reason.

Any help is grealty appreciated.

You want rwhp out of a cobalt, are new to modding these cars, and want to put your own turbo kit on. rly?
If youre gonna get the zzp kit it'd be better to make the trip out cause they prob have it down to a science now....also with the kit comes on a slew of other necessary supporting mods you'll need to get/install/tune.

You will have a really, really, really hard time with everything that will be required to get 450 rwhp.

New to modding... Tell you what, go on ebay and buy one of those $10 chips that adds 150 hp and gets you 100mpg. Then learn how much harder getting tons of power out of a car is than you think. also, rwhp = REAR wheel horsepower. New to modding is not a good thing on a turbo car.

You guys really need to take it easy. Im sorry i post on corvette forums everyday so im typing rwhp all the time. I have 1110 rwhp z06 that keeps me busy on sunny days.. You are correct new to modding these cars. But not new to modding cars.

Whats the issue here? It doesnt look like a very hard install at all i was simply looking for anyone who has installed the kit. I have multiple f/i cars that i have and have worked on many other's in which i am very firmilar with, i was just hoping you guys who happen to already own these things would have a little bit of a clue of whats involved and if its possible to meet my goal, but apparently i have come to the wrong community since you would rather complain than provide actual real world Results.. From my understanding there is not all that much to there kits other than the turbo and piping swap. Plus a clutch etc etc nothing major that hasnt been done before.

Obviously you have no idea who you are speaking to, im not some ricer fan boy. I came to get real world info if you dont have any stfu If you could take two seconds to actually read, you would see i posted new to modding THESE cars, not new to modding.

I'm not saying it's hard. I AM saying that it is very unpractical and unfeasible to buy a car as a DD only to turbo swap and fully build it and then when the first problem comes along quickly swap everything back to stock for a trip to the dealer, who will more than likely turn you right back out the door.

Also... If you want info on garage turbo swaps contact 1badblueberrySC. He did a swap to a PTE2871 and has since swapped it back. He would be good to talk to about it. If I am not mistaken he did his build mostly in his garage and then tuned it himself.

I Appreciate the good info that helps a lot. I guess to me persaonlly its not a big deal. Pulling a manifold and turbo off to replace it with a new one that is a direct fit might take 30 minutes if that. Otherwise sure things are a little time consuming getting everything set up but other than that in my opinion i dont think its to much of a hassle, but i figured i would ask anyone who might have the kit and know better than me.

Its not like im fully building the thing... I mean sure if i was building the bottom end and throwing on a ported head with upgraded rockers and getting a built tranny then yea it would be not worth the swap out time. However, just throwing a clutch in and a turbo upgrade kit doesnt seem like a hastle to me.

So does anyone know if zzp sells there kit and ships them to people or is this strictly on a has to be installed at there shop basis?

Lets see some pics of this Z06.

Apparently, you have to have it installed at their shop, currently, because of stock levels. PM Matt.

I remember that thread for snake. So theres 2 cobalt lnf's at over 400whp. and snakes is barely over 400. sooo point is still the same, 450whp dd? possible, but why not get a lsj and have it cheaper and easier?

even at 400 whp for a daily driver, your internals are going to be shot not long after having that much hp on this engine

When you manage that, let me know because I'd like to shake your hand.

I do this crap for a living... and even on a Sky where the turbo is in plain sight it takes much much longer than 30 minutes just to remove the stock unit.

The ZZP kit isn't a bolt-on upgrade either from the pictures I've seen, its a new manifold et al. So you'd be looking at more likely a day's work minimum.
