AeroForce Interceptor help

i have an 09 SS/TC and i know its an easy process to install this guage. But when i hook everything up, this is what im getting.

i have reason to believe that my OBDII wiring is wrong. As you see here my green wire is on top of my black wire

And if u scroll down to the 14th pic in this thread, https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-...eptors-156222/ you will see that the red wire is on top of the black. So i believe that my wiring is wrong.

On a side note had unplugged the lil red thing on the interceptor n it took a couple of tries to start the car. now i have a CEL and my alarm system symbol is on while the car is running. I jsut plan to disco the battery n clear it out. But thanks for helpin and ur input is appreciated

Hmm... Mine did that red light thing first time. I unplugged the obd2 and plugged it back in to fix it. As for the wiring on the back, I have no clue what mine looked like but the plug only fit into it one way on mine. Is this an older gauge, it looks different then what I have? Are you starting the car up completely to test it? Did you plug or unplug the unit with the car on?

I would pull the battery fuse and let the car reset and try again.

I'm pretty sure ours uses the jumper on the Aeroforce so you want to put that back on there.

I would try and reset your battery also. I had this troulbethe first time I hooked minee up. I wouldnt think it wouldnt be the wiring if you havent messed with it at all. That wouldn't make sense that its messed up but I guess a possibility. Once you reset it unplug plugs from the back of the gauges and make sure they are all the way in. Btw they don't lock in place. Also I would turn your car on before placeing it up to the obd2. Just in case its because its running only off the battery. Good luck. Let us know what happens!

I unhook mine while the car is running sometimes when one of the gauges goes off. I've never had a problem with it or heard of anyone else either? Mine are in my garage if you want to look at them.

Hmmm... I'm going to look it up. I'm interested now. I don't have an alarm and idk if that has anything to do with it or not. Check if oreillys is open and see if you can't get it up there. They'll scan it for free and tell you the code for the cel and what's making it kick.

i tried look it up in Aeroforce Forum but found nothing. unfortunately i live in england n its 2:15 am n the is no o'reillys here lol. I do believe my OBD2 cable wires might be switched like i pointed out earlier. i even managed to find other pics of the where the red wire is on top of the black wire n located on the side of the jumper. unlike mine which is over the white wire n opposite of the jumper.

I also tried lookin for a wiring diagram to find out which one was power n ground on the connector n the gauge, but had no luck as well

the number on the back of my guage is CN401v3.7. could it be its the wrong gauge being that u mentioned 501?

well just found this out.If you look at the application guide, it explains the part numbers. The "x" in CNx01 is just a variable where the color digit would go. If you ordered a red display, it would be a CN401. If you had ordered blue as an example, it would have been CN101. You ordered the correct gauge if you wanted red.

But i will email them and let them know what is going on. thanks for your help and Merry CHristmas

well an Aeroforce Tech contacted me and informed me that i was correct on the green and red wire being swapped. I gave them my address and should be sending me a new one. I also doubt this problem happens very often cause i could not find anything on this forum, Aeroforce Forum and Google searches.

I was wondering though if anybody had any thought that the gauge would be messed up cause the wires were swapped? let me know what ya think.

So they wired it up wrong from the factory? You could probably just file down the tabs on the side of the plug?

Glad you found the issue. The red jumper will have to be removed before install though

thanks Blazin07SS, but i do believe that the jumper needs to stay on being that i have an 09SS/TC. You have to remove the jumper for the SC if im not mistaken

So AeroForce and i have been e-mailing one another and they came up w/a solution. Where the wires go into, there is a lil tab u can lift up with a needle or sumtin small and the wire will slide out. Like in this picture.

I swapped both the wires out and ended up getting the correct wiring. As you can see the red wire is above the black wire where it should be.

Then ended up being one happy customer when everything came on

P.S. how do you post a big pic to where it shows in the forum instead of it ending up like ^^^
