Mine gets cold almost immediately and can freeze me to death. Perhaps give it a couple days of running it full-on with the windows down and see if it just needs to get some use out of it. If it still isn't cold, take it into the dealer and have them look at it.

ya they should...but be warned of your mods and them opening the hood, that can be a can of worms in itself.

...if they told me a charge pipe broke my A/C I'd punch 'em in the mouth and leave. But yes he's correct, depending on the dealer they might be ****** about it, just stand your ground and be calm if they start getting after you about it.

Just charge it yourself. Go to your local auto parts store and pick up a can with gauge for $20-30.

I bought my 08 SS brand new and the AC needed to be charged up right away. It was about 15% low on refrigerant which can make a big difference. I would take it to the dealer, they shouldn't give you any guff.

I'm going to ask something insulting just to get it out of the way.

Are you pressing the A/C button? Are you pressing the recirc button as well?

Had to ask.

I could see them saying that. "Sir your venting your refrigerant to atmosphere please put your stock BPV on so it recirculates"

The A/c on my old Cobalt and the TC has seemed pretty weak compared to others cars I've had. It takes a while to get cold, and yes the a/c and recirc buttons are on.

My wife has a 2006 Civic Si. That car has the worst AC on the planet. We were over 100 degrees for 90 days last summer, in Austin, and my Cobalt AC was just fine.

As someone that used to work with automotive A/C systems and still does work on the side, please don't just do this. Refrigerant doesn't just evaporate. The system is sealed. If you are low on refrigerant this means you have a leak - and DON'T buy cans with "leak sealer"!!!

Just because the A/C isn't cold doesn't necessarily mean you are low on refrigerant. There are several causes, and to properly diagnose it you need (at the very minimum) a vent thermometer, and a set of A/C manifold gages that measure the high and low side pressures. Those chill-in-a-can's from the autostore that have the attached gage are inaccurate at best, and if you have a blockage in the system the low side pressures could be high or low and wont let you know if the compressor is working correctly.

I haven't traced that line, but some aftermarket intakes rub on one of the A/C lines that run alongside the valve cover on the passenger side. Not sure if it is the low side or high side feed or return line, but either way a hole anywhere in the system vents the refrigerant. Steel or aluminum rubbing on aluminum = a hole in said aluminum line, and whoosh, refrigerant gone. If you cant order the pre-made line from Chevy, any competent A/C repair shop can easily bend you a new one.

After replacing the line, the system must be properly evacuated and a vacuum pulled on the system down to very low micron vacuum levels several times to remove any moisture in the lines. Then the proper amount of oil and refrigerant re-added using the above gages.
