amount of Moble1 grease on Forge bpv
amount of Moble1 grease on Forge bpv
I cant get the amount right every time i go drag racing i get a bpv code stuck open/closed. I pulled it out and it was dry looking with a light coat of grease on befor the races. But ive over greased it befor too. So how much should i put on???
So i should put a light amount on the inside then just the orings?? Ive put a VERY light coat on the plunger and o-rings but it still failed every time i go to the strip-.-
Mabe i just need a red coat inside and a light coat on the orings. I think im Putting to little and its getting to hot fading it away

Im using the moble 1 red grease if says its good up to like 350F unless that's not high enough. Keep ir mind this is only at the drag strip i drove the car hard the last few days trying to see if it would happen and nothing. 2nd pass at the drags and the CEL popped.
The stocker wasnt holding the psi anymore so i went with the forge. When i got it there was a big glob of grease on the end of the pluger i figued that wasnt right. So i cleaned it and re-greased it. I just cant seem to get the right amount back on and it only acts up at the drags im guessing cuz all the back to back runs
yeah you basically had it right, get the orings lubed up enough so they are not dry and put a TINY bit inside the 2 orings so it self lubricates on each stroke and service every oil change.
I would suggest Mystik Hi-Temp #1 or Mystik Hi-Temp w/ Moly for this application.
I did used to work for a distributor though which is why I would suggest those based on your needs and what the BPV actually does...

I've found it's actually better to use something less viscous like synthetic motor oil more so than grease tbh. The grease tends to get more and more viscous over time and leads to sticking issues. This really goes for any plunger style bov for that matter.
As far as the stock bpv not holding boost, I'm curious as to how you came to that conclusion. By design, it's just not possible. If your stock bpv can't hold boost pressure then either the diaphragm is torn or something else is going on.

Re-circ no tune, VTA yes tune.
VTA more of a ricer mod. I'm pretty sure the VTA decreases performance a tiny amount since the engine would rather have that readily available air. But the sound is amazing and a head turner. And I'm sure it's harder to dial in when tuning so if you're tune is way off might decrease overall engine life by tiny amount?
It might be to annoying in the winter aswell when feathering the throttle for traction. The VTA gets pretty "talkative" not sure how to say but it can be made to pssssssh very easily with only a few pounds of boost. For this reason I like it, I can show off without having to break the speed limit or tire traction.

Where you guys get the grease from or can someone post of pic of how it looks? Im not sure what to get i found a mobil1 grease but i dont think its high temp. I got a p2261 so im guessing i need to clean and re-lube it
your bpv won't really care what kind of "specialty" grease is going in it. all it has to do is not break down from the heat produced from the turbo.
1)go to auto parts store
2)ask for highest temperature grease
3)????
