anyone switch to a 2011-2012 5.0 mustang?

i am debating getting a 2012 5.0 and trade in my '09ss anyone else do this yet or thinking about it? i drove 2 sticks standard rear gears and 1 auto, they seam gutless compared to my car but i am trying to find a 3.73 rear car to drive. i am thinking about this because the mustang is a better mod. starting point for doing more drag racing and i kinda want a rear wheel drive since i cant hook up with fwd. i saw one auto 5.0 on youtube 60-100 was over 8 seconds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5rTpyr7we4

I just took a few pics of a Candy Red 2012 5.0 at my local ford dealer. If I wasn't purchasing a house this year I would be all over it.

I wouldn't worry so much about the 60-100 mph times more so than 1/4 mile times

I've said it a few times on here. My brothers 100% stock 2011 with a 6 speed auto went 12.51 at 113.7mph. With only a tune in hot weather it went 12.40 at 114.9...i'm sure it's a 12.20 car in the cooler fall weather.

Ford=Fail.
Maybe a Shellby?
But for that money I'd take a 2009-2010 Z06.

Never was under the impression rwd v8's were good roll cars anyway. Like stated above compare the 1/4mile times

When I get rid of my Balt it will be for awd. The 5.0 stang is a serious car compared to the balt...not exactly a great winter car for example. Also the cobalt is designed to be a dd and also gets good milage.

Id like a 5.0..
But where I live mustangs are everywhere (shitty slow versions) and would
suck for dd in comparrison I'd assume.

If I'm going for a race car on the side it will probably be a evo or a sti

I'm tired of not having awd with studded winter tires for winter :p

I've been on the fence about this also. I love the Balts practicality and price of mods and repairs. The new 5.0s are an a great base for performance though. And since ford rounded the rear of the mustangs it looks better to me. I'm thinking about paying off Balt then picking up new ride. Right in time for the market to be flooded and prices drop.

Thought about it numerous times, but considering I have an 05 GT that's about to be paid off, I'm just gonna wait and get the 50th Anniversary 5.0 or GT500

They announced the specs after I got my SS, otherwise there's a good chance I would be driving one of them instead. I love the Boss 302 and Laguna Seca versions. The mustangs are brutally fast on road courses, and the interior is pretty nice now.

I test drove a 2011 5.0 and liked it. Couldn't justify paying that much for one though. Wait a few years and get a low mileage one for a lot cheaper

A bone stock manual 5.0 w/ 3.73 option went 12.2 @ 115 here at local track right off show room.

With bolt ons + stall, the auto cars are hitting 11's easily.

I would take one any day.

GT500's are much more affordable than Z06's. Recently a friend of mine picked up a 2008 GT500 with 1900 miles for $35,900. Car came with 4.10 gears, off road x-pipe, the ugliest "luxury" wheels I've ever seen. For $600 he picked up a Ford Racing Intake, 2.59" pulley and a tune, and put down 540whp/501wtq on a dynojet. And the same dealership he bought his GT500 from just got another in the same color scheme for the same price with 16,000 miles on it.

The 5.0 is a great car, but without a tune the throttle response is terrible. I test drove a stock one with 3.73 gears and then drove my friends 5.0 that also had 3.73 gears, but also had a tune. And I can't not emphasis enough how big of a difference a tune makes on that cars drivability.
