so i was driving home tonight on the highway, i was no lift-shifting, and as soon as i hot 5th gear my batt light came on..... dont understand why its not like ive ever driven it any other way. anyone else have this prob? if so what should i do and should i be worried?............... i even shut my car off and turned it back on, and its still there. i think tomorrow i might just unplug my neg to my batt to reset the ecu i dunno

 

usually the Bat light is on, if the car is running when there is a bad Alt, or like in my 06 Silverado when the battery is a bit undercharged. I'd say drive around normal for a day, and if it doesn't go away take it in.

Now, as for you battery light, do you have an aftermarket stereo system with this big silly subwoofers?

i took my car in this morning. i need a new alternator. they said it was faulty. so the dealership is gonna get a new one and ill hopefully have my car back within the next day or 2

 

Good you got it fixed. Similar happened to me a few months ago, I got in my car, started it, and the battery light came on. As soon as I got down the street it went off so I didn't think too much of it. Got on the expressway going to school and all electrical power shut off, dead in the middle of traffic. Car was running itself since its stick but then died itself. Got it over to the side and towed to the dealer, after a week of them having it they finally figured there was a loose connection at the alternator and fixed it. Good luck with it!
