blew map sensor ??'s

I blew my MAP sensor, but have a tune/intake/exhaust.. is it worth it to try to get it replaced under warranty or do you think i'll just be better off eating the cost of a new one? I'm not really interested in the stage kit right now btw.

It's worth it trying the warranty, but if you do, then they may void it. So how much is a new MAP sensor? I would just buy a new one.

Are you sure the MAP sensor it "blown?"

Just flash back to stock and bring er in. They wont void a warranty for intake and exhaust. If you blew a MAF sensor, then they may try to pin it on the intake, but not a MAP.

and your gonna keep blowing map sensors because of going over the map sensors limits. there is a reason the stage kit comes with 3 bar map sensors

i'll flash it to stock, i'm trying to make an appt with the dealership. in the DTC thing on hptuners it's throwing the map sensor low voltage code, and it's not logging boost or map pressure anymore. i logged a run with it not working, and my VE airflow shot up to 67lbs/min when i punched it lol. is it ok to drive with this sensor blown? the sensor is about $90 or so from the dealership, i can get it cheaper online, but i don't feel like waiting that long when they can have it by tomorrow.

i don't wanna spend the $$ on the stage kit yet, i want to wait till spring if i can.

that's what i said. lol idk if the MAP sensor not working is making that read incorrectly or what, the MAF was reading 23-24 at that point, i just floored it for a second then let off.

is it ok to drive the car with this sensor blown? it's my only vehicle right now.

Yeah, somebody may need to correct me on this, but I think it's physically impossible to have a VE reading that's much higher than the MAF reading. That would be saying that there's more airflow flowing into your engine than came in through your intake in the first place. The only exception to this that I can think of would be if you've got an incredibly cooling IC.

The MAP must be used for helping the ECU calculate VE, and if I remember right I read a while back that this might actually be the case.

You have no idea what you are talking about. People are blowing these sensors stock. I blew 2 when I was stock between 1K and 7K miles. GM had a bad run of sensors. I have also been 23-25+PSI on a stock sensors for the past 15K miles no problems.

If your not in limp its most likely not blown. If you take it "out of range" it will spaz out. Clear the code. What happens then?

You can blow it without going into limp mode. The RPD will show no boost even with a reset is usually the sign.

i don't have an rpd. i do have a CEL though, can't remember the code(it said something about low or no voltage from map sensor), no limp mode, but it was misfiring at first when i started it up, coulda been the tune i just adjusted/loaded though. idk. it doesn't log any reading from teh map since that CEL came on either. i have an apt. today with the dealership, we'll see.

Fail. Unless your swappin turbos the stock maps fine. the reason for the 3 bar is basically for diagnostic compliancy..

that's the reason i went for warranty, the fact that ppl are blowing these sensors on bone stock cars didn't make me feel bad about going in for warranty with a car that had been tuned. it only took the 4 1/2 hours to figure it out though.. they tried telling me the sensor was bad cause of my intake, and the fact that the hahn intake stretched the wires to the sensor. i told them they were looking at the wrong sensor....lol trained professionals here.

I just blew another within 2 weeks of getting one installed. It happens at cold start. THe engine idles funny for a second, then bam, blown map sensor. It has nothing to do with boost levels. It has happend this way both times. I hope they get a goodone in there next friday.

i think that may have been my problem. everytime i adjust my tune and load it the idle is funny for a few seconds, it was real funny this time, though, started misfiring and stuff then the code for the map came on. idk if it was something i did or what..

I just blew my second one. I actually have the replacement in my lap right now. Im boosting about 24-25lbs (vacuum tank delete) and it only pops when im hard on it. Other than that it was good before i took out the vacuum tank which is going back in this weekend.

I took mine in to the dealer this morning and just heard back from them. They said my map was fine and the problem lies in the computer, so they are replacing that. I wonder if that will be the fix.
