Bluetooth rocks!

That is all I have to say about that...I will need to go through my phone and update the names with first and last so the voice command will actually work, but other than that...it is the cat's ass!

Unless you're me, in which case it takes months.

Tazi; I'm dying to know how it all hooks up, is the bluetooth in the car always on, so if your phone detects it it syncs, or is there a button you have to hit?

The phone takes over the speakers? Does the mic pick everyone in the car up, or is it centered on the driver? Do you answer calls on the steering wheel controls?

Edit: I'm trying not to vicariously experience the car through you, but it's a hard temptation to resist (6-10 more days left!)...

If it's anything like my mom's Lexus, the blue tooth will automatically connect (after the initial setup) when the key is in the run position (engine on or off) and the phone is in range. At that point, you should be able to use the steering wheel buttons, voice activated features, etc. It'll probably take over one of the speakers (i.e. the driver's door speaker). As for the mic, anyone who speaks up loud enough will be picked up. The further away you are, the louder you'll have to talk (like any mic). All of this stuff is pretty typical for BT equiped vehicles.

go to...

www.gm.com/bluetooth

There is an easy to follow tutorial. Once it is paired you just get into the car turn your cell phone bluetooth on and select device General Motors...

It's very choice...

wait... I want you to explain please on how the voice dialing works. I have a very nice smart phone with touch screen.. and I have personally voice tags set up on my phone to voice dial every contact almost. Will I be able to personalize the voice dialing on the car or what?

Like my one buddy... we call him Pawtucket Pat. So I have him in my phone as "Pawtucket" same on the voice dial...... Will I have to just say "Pawtucket" to the cobalt to dial him via bluetooth then?

Do I have to say what is written as text in my phone's contacts?

Like say I had my buddy "Steven" in my phone... could I make it where I just said "Steve" or something on the cobalt?

My phone will voice dial any number I have in it, I think that is how it works. I have the LG VX-8700.

That is still easy. My problem with voice dialing is sometimes it gets the name wrong and you call a chick you hooked up with years ago that you don't want to talk too....

I actually have one of those wireless bluetooth headsets already, but I want this!!!

If for no other reason, I don't have to worry about my headset battery going out all the time.

I got the same thing going on in my '95 Century. 'cept I use a tape adapter to my iPhone, I leave in my shirt pocket and it's just like bluetooth. Except I have a heavy brick in my shirt, and a what looks like a cord attached to my nipples.

Totally the same thing...

Now to convince people I have a bluetooth in my Century.
