2008/2009 SS T/C Break-In?
2008/2009 SS T/C Break-In?
Hey guys,
Just ordered an all-black 2009 SS T/C w/ G85 (no RPD) today, should be here in 8 weeks-ish.
Can any 2008 T/C owners please tell me what the owner's manual states is the proper break-in period on the car? I'm already waiting a while to take delivery on the thing and I'm curious how long I'll have to baby it before I can really have some fun.
Thanks in advance.

New Vehicle Break-In
Notice: Your vehicle does not need an elaborate
break-in. But it will perform better in the long run
if you follow these guidelines:
Do not drive at any one constant speed, fast or
slow, for the first 500 miles (805 km). Do not
make full-throttle starts. Do not exceed 5,000
engine rpm. Avoid downshifting to brake or
slow the vehicle.
Avoid making hard stops for the first 200 miles
(322 km) or so. During this time the new brake
linings are not yet broken in. Hard stops
with new linings can mean premature wear and
earlier replacement. Follow this breaking-in
guideline every time you get new brake linings.
Do not tow a trailer during break-in. See Towing
a Trailer (Manual Transmission) on page 4-34
or Towing a Trailer (Automatic Transmission)
on page 4-34 for the trailer towing capabilities
of your vehicle and more information.
Following break-in, engine speed and load can
be gradually increased.

I would have to guess that all 4 items apply to the first 500 miles since they are all listed under the same bullet. Or else GM expects you to drive like gradma going to church on Sunday.
